Choose a TUDOR by starting with what you want the watch to do, then compare the exact references that fit your wrist and feature needs. A collection name alone will not tell you a model’s dimensions, movement, certification, or power reserve. TUDOR’s 2026 lineup includes new and updated examples across several families, but availability can vary by market; confirm the reference, local price, and stock before buying.

Start with the watch’s role

Make a shortlist based on how you will use the watch and the design you want. TUDOR’s collection names are a useful first filter, not a substitute for comparing model specifications. The official collection index covers families including Black Bay, Pelagos, Pelagos FXD, Ranger, 1926, Royal, and Clair de Rose; its 2026 overview highlights new or updated examples such as the Black Bay Ceramic, Black Bay 58, Black Bay 54, Black Bay 58 GMT, Royal, Monarch, and Northflag. These are current examples, not a guarantee that every variant is sold in every market.

For a dive-oriented watch

Begin with Black Bay or Pelagos, then narrow the choice by size, materials, water resistance, and movement. The Black Bay family includes varied designs and functions, so do not assume that one model’s dimensions or calibre apply to another. Pelagos models also differ: the official MT5612 movement information, for example, describes a date-equipped calibre used in the Pelagos context, but that does not make every watch in the family identical.

For travel and time-zone tracking

Look for a reference explicitly described as a GMT, such as the 2026 Black Bay 58 GMT. Verify how that particular model displays a second time zone and whether its case size and thickness suit you; the family name alone does not establish either detail.

For timing events

Shortlist a chronograph reference if elapsed-time measurement is essential. Check the precise functions and movement on the model page rather than inferring them from its collection.

For field or everyday wear

Ranger is a natural family to consider for a field-watch design. For a straightforward reference point, the listed Ranger M79950-0001 has a steel case and bracelet, 100 m water resistance, and a 39 mm case. Those specifications apply to that reference, not all Rangers.

For classic or dress-leaning styling

Consider families such as 1926, Royal, or Clair de Rose, then compare the exact dial, case, bracelet, and movement options available where you shop. A classic appearance does not by itself tell you whether a reference has a date, what calibre it uses, or how long it runs off the wrist.

Compare the exact reference, not just the collection

Once you have a preferred role and style, write down the complete reference number for each candidate. Compare these details side by side using the official product pages and, where available, movement information.

What to compare Why it matters
Functions Confirm whether the watch is time-only or includes a date, GMT display, chronograph, or another complication you need.
Case dimensions Check diameter and thickness; lug width also helps identify strap or bracelet compatibility.
Movement Record the exact calibre and whether it is automatic or another type. Specifications vary by reference.
Performance documentation Check the stated power reserve and whether that reference has COSC or Master Chronometer certification, including the standard and tolerance claimed.
Wear configuration Compare the bracelet or strap, clasp, and available alternatives; these affect both appearance and comfort.
Purchase details Confirm the exact reference, current local price, seller, and market availability before committing.

TUDOR describes its Manufacture calibres as a group that can include a 70-hour power reserve and COSC certification, but these are not universal specifications for every watch. Use the manufacturer’s calibre overview as context, then confirm the details for the reference you are considering.

Tudor Heritage Black Bay GMT Stainless Steel Automatic Mens Watch M79830RB-0001
  • 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
  • Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
  • Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve

Choose a size by considering the whole fit

Case diameter is only one part of how a watch wears. Thickness affects how high it sits, while lug-to-lug span, lug shape, bracelet articulation, strap choice, and clasp all influence how it feels on your wrist. Look for lug-to-lug dimensions on the exact model page when TUDOR publishes them; do not estimate them from the diameter.

The listed Ranger M79950-0001 illustrates why reference-level checking matters: TUDOR specifies a 39 mm steel case, 12.0 mm thickness, and 20 mm lug width for this reference. These measurements are not a size guide for every Ranger or TUDOR watch. See the Ranger M79950-0001 product page for its specifications.

If possible, try on the exact reference and configuration—bracelet or strap included—before making a high-cost purchase. If you cannot, compare the published dimensions with a watch you already find comfortable, while treating that comparison as a starting point rather than a guarantee of identical fit.

Understand movements, reserves, and certification

Movement specifications matter most when they answer a practical need: whether you want a date or GMT function, how long the watch can run off the wrist, or what performance documentation accompanies that reference. Read each figure in its stated context; a specification for one calibre is not a brand-wide promise.

Power reserve and the MT5612 example

TUDOR’s official MT5612 page describes a date function, a 4 Hz frequency (28,800 beats per hour), a silicon balance spring, COSC certification, and an approximately 70-hour power reserve. These are specifications for the MT5612, not every Pelagos or every TUDOR. The manufacturer’s MT5612 movement page does not state a publication date.

What the 2026 Black Bay 58 figures mean

TUDOR’s 2026 Black Bay 58 press material identifies calibre MT5400-U with a 65-hour reserve and METAS Master Chronometer certification. In that document, TUDOR distinguishes three daily-rate figures: COSC’s -4/+6 seconds per day allowance for an uncased movement, TUDOR’s stated -2/+4 seconds per day tolerance for the fully assembled watch, and the METAS requirement that the certified watch run within 0/+5 seconds per day. These figures refer to different standards and testing contexts; they should not be collapsed into one general accuracy claim for the brand. Consult the 2026 Black Bay 58 press material for the stated details.

Certification is not the same as a general brand guarantee

COSC and METAS describe distinct certification frameworks. When certification is important to you, confirm that the exact reference carries it and note the conditions and tolerance the manufacturer associates with it. TUDOR’s published specifications and performance statements are manufacturer claims, not independent comparative test results.

Check price and availability in your market

Prices and stock are time- and market-sensitive. TUDOR says on its Ranger product page that it may modify prices and models, so an online suggested retail price should not be treated as a fixed cross-market comparison. Check the current local price, exact reference, configuration, and availability with the seller before purchase. The current collection overview is useful for identifying models, but it does not establish that a particular variant is in stock near you.

A practical shortlist checklist

  1. Choose the role: dive, travel/GMT, chronograph, field, or classic everyday wear.
  2. Select a few specific models: use TUDOR’s current collection listings, then record each complete reference number.
  3. Compare fit: check diameter, thickness, lug width, lug-to-lug span where published, and the supplied bracelet or strap.
  4. Confirm functions and movement: verify complications, exact calibre, stated reserve, and certification for each reference.
  5. Try it on if practical: assess the exact configuration on your wrist, not only its diameter on paper.
  6. Verify the transaction: confirm local price, stock, seller, and reference before paying.
