The cited Black Bay 41 is a 41 mm steel watch rated to 200 m; Pelagos options include a 39 mm titanium model also rated to 200 m, a 42 mm model rated to 500 m, and a 43 mm Pelagos Ultra rated to 1,000 m. If you value a smaller titanium case, start with the Pelagos 39. If you prefer the cited steel Black Bay’s larger case, compare it directly with that model’s fit and specifications.
How do the collections differ?
Black Bay and Pelagos are broad collections, not single specifications. Tudor’s Black Bay lineup includes multiple models, while the Pelagos examples below vary in size, materials, and water-resistance rating. These distinctions describe the named references, not every watch in either collection.

The practical starting point is how a particular watch wears and what features matter to you: case diameter and thickness, material, water-resistance rating, movement and certification, and bracelet or strap. The specifications below are from Tudor’s official product pages.

#1 Best Overall
- 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
- Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
- Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve
Which one fits your priorities?
Choose the Black Bay 41 if you want the cited steel model
Its 41 mm case and 13.6 mm thickness make it larger and thicker on paper than the Pelagos 39. It is rated to 200 m and has a stated 70-hour power reserve, with COSC and METAS certification listed by Tudor. Consider it if those specifications and a steel case match your preferences.
Choose the Pelagos 39 if you want a smaller titanium option
At 39 mm and 11.8 mm thick, this is the most compact of the three fully dimensioned examples. Tudor specifies grade 2 titanium and 200 m water resistance. Its rating matches the cited Black Bay 41, so the choice between these references need not be driven by depth rating alone.
Rank #2
- Tudor Black Bay 54 Automatic Chronometer Black Dial Men's Watch M79000N-0001
Consider the 42 mm Pelagos or Pelagos Ultra for higher stated ratings
The cited 42 mm Pelagos is rated to 500 m, while Tudor lists the Pelagos Ultra at 1,000 m. Those ratings distinguish these examples on paper; they do not mean the greater depth rating is necessary for ordinary swimming or make either watch the best choice for every wearer. Compare the exact watch’s size, thickness, and fit as well.

What should you verify before buying?
- Exact reference: Collection names cover multiple watches. Match the reference number to the Tudor specifications before deciding.
- Fit: Compare diameter and thickness, and try the watch on if possible. The cited Pelagos models and Black Bay differ in both dimensions and materials.
- Replacement straps: The cited Black Bay 41 and Pelagos 39 have 21 mm lug widths; the cited 42 mm Pelagos has 22 mm. Check the precise reference before ordering a strap.
- Movement details: The cited examples state about 70 hours of power reserve, but Tudor gives the Black Bay figure as 70 hours and the Pelagos figures as approximately 70 hours. Check the movement and certifications for the exact watch rather than assuming they apply throughout either collection.
- Local purchase terms: Prices and stock vary by market and were not established here. Confirm local availability, warranty terms, and seller details for the reference you intend to buy.
These are official listed specifications, not independent tests or a comparison of real-world diving performance. Product lineups and pages can change; check Tudor’s current listing for the watch you are considering.
