For routine cleaning, wipe your G-Shock and its band with a clean, soft, absorbent cloth. After seawater exposure, rinse away salt and dirt with plain water, then dry the watch. Sapphire protects the crystal from scratches better than many alternatives, but it does not make the entire watch impervious to damage or remove the need to follow its model-specific care instructions.

A soft microfiber cloth is a suitable option; Casio’s care guidance does not require a branded cleaning kit or a special sapphire polish. Salt and dirt should be rinsed off with plain water after seawater exposure. Casio’s Module 3509 operation guide states: “After submersion in seawater, use plain water to rinse all salt and dirt from your watch.” Dry the watch afterward with a soft, absorbent cloth.

Can you use soap or detergent?
Avoid exposing the watch to soaps and detergents while cleaning it or doing household tasks. Use plain water for rinsing after seawater exposure, rather than adding cleaning products. Follow the module guide for any additional cautions related to your watch’s band material.
Why sapphire still needs careful handling
“Sapphire crystal” describes the crystal, not every part of the watch. G-SHOCK models differ in construction and crystal treatments. For example, Casio lists sapphire with an anti-reflective coating on the GWG-2040FR-1A and the MRG-B2100D-2A; the MRG-D5000 page lists titanium and sapphire crystal. These examples are not specifications for every sapphire G-SHOCK.

Do not use abrasive polishing or chemical cleaners on the crystal or case. Casio’s cited care guidance does not prescribe polishing sapphire, and warns against certain chemicals for watch materials. Check your exact model page and module guide before using any cleaning method beyond a soft cloth and the plain-water rinse described above.
Fogging and gasket care
What to do if moisture appears inside
If fogging inside the glass persists or you can see moisture inside the watch, stop using it and contact the original retailer or an authorized Casio service center. Do not try to resolve internal moisture by cleaning the outside of the crystal.

Ask about gasket replacement
Casio’s general guide recommends periodic gasket replacement, approximately every two or three years, to maintain water resistance. Treat that as general guidance rather than a schedule that overrides the manual or service advice for your particular model.
