Garmin Connect writes supported records to Health Connect after a successful device sync; Samsung Health can then read the record types it supports when you grant permission. Garmin describes its integration as one-way and requires Android 14 or later.
The short answer
The official route is a three-app bridge:
Garmin device → Garmin Connect → Android Health Connect → Samsung Health
Garmin Connect writes selected activity and wellness records to Health Connect. Samsung Health can then read supported records after you grant permission. Garmin Support describes its integration as one-way: Garmin Connect sends data to Health Connect, but does not read data back. Samsung Health records should therefore not be expected to flow into Garmin Connect through the native connection.
Garmin’s current native sharing feature requires Android 14 or newer. Health Connect itself can be installed on Android 13 and earlier, but that does not make Garmin’s integration available on those versions.

What you need before connecting Garmin and Samsung Health
- An Android phone running Android 14 or later for Garmin’s native Health Connect sharing feature.
- A Garmin device paired and syncing successfully with Garmin Connect.
- Current versions of Garmin Connect and Samsung Health; update the Samsung Health app on a Galaxy Watch too, if applicable.
- Health Connect available on your phone. It is in Android Settings on Android 14 and newer; on Android 13 and earlier, Google says to install the Health Connect app from Play Store.
- A few minutes to review permissions for each app and data type.
Samsung says Samsung Health has supported Health Connect since version 6.22.5, released in October 2022. Keep the app current because the supported scope can change. Samsung’s Health Connect documentation describes this version history.
You do not need to replace a working Garmin watch or buy new hardware just to try this connection. The setup is a software configuration for devices you already use.
How to connect Garmin Connect to Samsung Health
1. Update the apps and sync the Garmin device
Update Garmin Connect and Samsung Health, then open Garmin Connect and complete a normal device synchronization. Garmin says its Health Connect transfer happens after a successful device sync.
Confirm the newest expected activity or wellness record is visible in Garmin Connect first. If the record is missing there, Health Connect and Samsung Health cannot receive it through this route.
2. Turn on Garmin Connect sharing with Health Connect
In Garmin Connect on your Android phone, locate the Health Connect sharing control and enable it. The exact menu path can vary by app release and phone, so consult Garmin Support’s Health Connect instructions if the option is not where expected.
Select the data categories you want Garmin Connect to write and approve the requested Health Connect permissions. This is a publishing connection, not an import connection: Garmin does not read data back from Health Connect.
If the Health Connect option is missing, check the Android version first. Garmin’s feature requires Android 14 or newer.
3. Connect Samsung Health to Health Connect
Open Samsung Health and go to Settings > Health Connect. Start setup if prompted and approve permissions for the data types you want to share.

Samsung Health’s permissions can cover reading and writing. For Garmin records to appear in Samsung Health, allow Samsung Health to read the relevant Health Connect data types. If you also want Samsung Health to publish its own supported records to Health Connect, grant its write permissions separately.

4. Check Health Connect permissions directly
Open Health Connect and review App permissions for both Garmin Connect and Samsung Health. On Android 14 and later, Google gives this Settings path: Settings > Security and privacy > Privacy Controls > Health Connect. On Android 13 and earlier, use the installed Health Connect app. Menu names may vary by phone and release.
- Garmin Connect needs write permission for the categories you want to share.
- Samsung Health needs read permission for the categories you want displayed there.
- If Samsung Health should contribute its own records, grant write permission for the supported categories separately.
- Permissions are specific to apps and data types; granting one does not grant all.
5. Check the data and trigger a refresh
- Sync the Garmin device successfully in Garmin Connect.
- Open Health Connect and check its data view for Garmin records.
- Open Samsung Health. If needed, pull down on its home screen to refresh.
- Allow time for Samsung Health to read and display the records.
Garmin sends data after a successful device sync, and Samsung’s watch-to-phone synchronization can add delay. Samsung says Galaxy Watch data first passes to Samsung Health on the phone; opening the app or manually refreshing can prompt an update. Continuous heart-rate data may be delayed to conserve battery, while a manually measured reading may sync immediately. If you enabled permissions through Android Settings, Samsung advises launching Samsung Health afterward.
Which Garmin data can reach Samsung Health?
Garmin lists the following types for its Health Connect transfer. This is what Garmin says it can send, not a guarantee that Samsung Health will display every item in the same way.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Garmin category | Data Garmin lists for Health Connect |
|---|---|
| Activity | Active calories burned, total calories burned, cycling pedal cadence, distance, elevation gained, heart rate, speed, steps, and swimming strokes |
| Wellness | Body fat, total calories burned, floors climbed, heart rate, sleep stages, steps, step distance, and weight |
Some records appear in both Garmin’s activity and wellness lists, such as total calories, heart rate, and steps. That does not mean the apps will merge or display them identically. The receiving app may aggregate records or prioritize a different source.
What Samsung Health can exchange through Health Connect
Samsung documents Health Connect mappings for supported categories including activity and exercise, steps, heart rate, sleep, nutrition, and body measurements. Its mapping also includes records such as blood glucose, blood oxygen, blood pressure, exercise calories, distance, power, speed, VO2 max, weight, body fat, basal metabolic rate, and height. See Samsung’s Health Connect FAQ and its record mapping documentation for the supported types.
This is Samsung Health’s supported mapping, not a promise that Garmin supplies every listed record. A category supported by both endpoints does not guarantee that every field, detail, or historical record will transfer.
Samsung distinguishes some exercise-tracker records from activity-tracker data. Its published mapping identifies total calories, distance, power, speed, and VO2 max with Samsung Health exercise-tracker data, while Samsung Health activity-tracker data are not synchronized with Health Connect. This can help explain why a Garmin workout arrives in Health Connect but does not change the Samsung Health daily activity metric you expected.

What this connection does not guarantee
It is not bidirectional Garmin synchronization
The native direction is:
Garmin Connect → Health Connect → Samsung Health
Rank #3
It is not a confirmed native route from Samsung Health or Health Connect back into Garmin Connect. Garmin Support explicitly says it will not read data from Health Connect.
It may not transfer your entire Garmin history
Do not assume that connecting the apps reconstructs every historical Garmin record. Google says connected apps with permission can access data from the previous 30 days and data written afterward; its guidance says the historical limit does not apply to health records. Neither that general access guidance nor the connection itself guarantees that Garmin will backfill every record or that Samsung Health will accept it. Check the dates in Health Connect’s data view if history matters.
GPS routes and every Garmin field are not guaranteed
Garmin’s published list includes metrics such as distance, elevation, speed, and heart rate, but it does not promise that full GPS route files will appear in Samsung Health. Unsupported or differently modeled Garmin fields may be omitted or shown under a different summary.
Calculations may differ
Calories, sleep summaries, steps, and daily totals can differ because apps use different record types, aggregation rules, source priorities, and calculation policies. A value appearing in Health Connect does not guarantee Samsung Health will reproduce Garmin’s total or place it on the same screen.
How to troubleshoot missing Garmin data
If Garmin data is missing from Health Connect
- Sync the Garmin device manually in Garmin Connect.
- Confirm the expected record is visible in Garmin Connect.
- Check that Garmin’s Health Connect sharing is enabled and the desired categories are selected.
- Review Garmin Connect permissions in Health Connect.
- Confirm the phone runs Android 14 or newer and update the apps and relevant system components.
- Check Health Connect’s data view for a Garmin-sourced record.
If Health Connect contains no Garmin record, the break is on the Garmin-to-Health Connect side. Refreshing Samsung Health will not fix that first step.
If Health Connect has the data but Samsung Health does not
- Open Samsung Health and go to Settings > Health Connect.
- Confirm Samsung Health can read the missing category.
- In Health Connect’s App permissions, verify the same category for Samsung Health.
- If you changed permissions in Android Settings, launch Samsung Health.
- Open or refresh Samsung Health and allow time for its display and aggregation to update.
- Check whether Samsung’s supported mapping includes the record type.
If the record is visible in Health Connect but absent from Samsung Health, the issue may be Samsung’s mapping or display behavior rather than a failed Garmin sync.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf only some metrics appear
Check whether Garmin lists the metric for Health Connect and whether Samsung supports that record type. A successful connection does not imply universal metric coverage. Apps may also use different record types for similar-looking measurements.
If numbers are duplicated or unusually high
When several apps write the same data type, Health Connect can merge overlapping records and lets you set source priority; higher-priority sources take precedence when values conflict. Review Health Connect’s source priority and avoid treating multiple wearables as equal sources without checking how the receiving app handles them.
Garmin also documents a Primary Wearable setting for source selection within Garmin Connect. That setting does not make Garmin’s Health Connect integration bidirectional or guarantee Samsung Health will use the same priorities.

If older records are missing
Check the dates in Health Connect’s data view. Google’s general guidance says the 30-day historical access limit does not apply to health records, but this does not guarantee a complete Garmin backfill or acceptance by Samsung Health. Other app-specific synchronization limits may apply.
Privacy and permissions
Health Connect stores its database on the Android device, and you control app and data-type permissions. Google notes that connected services may retain their own copies of shared data, so deleting a record in Health Connect may not delete copies in other apps or devices. Review the permissions for each app and category in Health Connect. See Google’s connected-app guidance and Health Connect overview.
For a minimal setup, give Garmin Connect write access only to categories you want to share and give Samsung Health read access only to categories it needs. Configure Samsung Health write permissions separately if you want it to publish its own supported records.
When to consider Health Sync
If the official route does not provide the direction or metric coverage you need, Health Sync is a third-party Android option. It is not Garmin or Samsung software. Its supported services, metrics, directions, permissions, and pricing can change, so verify its current app listing before relying on it. Test the native connection first, and configure any third-party tool carefully to avoid duplicate records or sync loops.
Quick decision guide
| Your situation | Best next step |
|---|---|
| You use Android 14 or newer and need Garmin data in Samsung Health | Use Garmin Connect → Health Connect → Samsung Health and review the relevant permissions. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Garmin sync directly with Samsung Health?
No. The official Android route is Garmin Connect to Health Connect to Samsung Health. Garmin writes selected data to Health Connect and does not read data back.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →What Android version is required?
Garmin’s current native Health Connect sharing feature requires Android 14 or newer. Health Connect can be installed on some older Android versions, but that does not change Garmin’s requirement.
Will all Garmin data appear in Samsung Health?
No. Garmin publishes selected activity and wellness records, but the connection does not guarantee every metric, a complete historical backfill, GPS-route transfer, or identical calculations.
How can I tell where the sync is failing?
Check Health Connect’s data view. If the Garmin record is absent, check Garmin syncing, sharing, permissions, and Android version. If it is present but missing from Samsung Health, check Samsung Health’s read permissions and supported mapping.
Do I need Health Sync to connect Garmin and Samsung Health?
No. Try the official route first. Health Sync is a third-party option; verify its current permissions, pricing, supported metrics, and synchronization directions before using it.
Bottom line
Garmin Connect can send selected data to Samsung Health through Android Health Connect, but the native connection is one-way and is not a complete mirror. Use Android 14 or newer, enable Garmin sharing, grant the relevant Garmin write and Samsung Health read permissions, then sync Garmin Connect and refresh Samsung Health. Check Health Connect’s data view to troubleshoot, and do not assume complete history, GPS routes, or matching totals.
