To delete messages on a supported Galaxy Watch, open the watch’s Messages app, touch and hold a message, select any additional messages, tap Delete, then tap the check mark to confirm. Samsung says this feature requires the watch to be connected to a Galaxy phone—and deleting a message on the watch also deletes it from the connected phone’s Messages app.
Delete one or more messages on the watch
- Open Messages on your Galaxy Watch.
- Swipe to the message you want to remove, then touch and hold it.
- To delete more than one, swipe to each additional message and tap it.
- Tap Delete, then tap the check mark to confirm.
These are Samsung’s documented steps; exact screens and availability can vary by watch model, phone, provider, and software version. Samsung’s U.S. instructions say deletion is available when the watch is connected to a Galaxy phone, not when it is connected to a non-Samsung phone or an iOS device. What deleting a message changes
This removes message content, not just an alert. Samsung states: “Messages deleted on the watch will also be deleted from the Messages app on the connected phone.” Samsung Support
Samsung’s watch-specific guidance does not establish whether deleted messages can be recovered, how long they may remain recoverable, or whether deletion removes every copy in every messaging app and setup. Don’t assume the action is a secure erase or that recovery is possible.

If you only want to stop message notifications
Notification controls are separate from deleting conversations. Turning off notifications changes which alerts you receive; it is not a way to clear message history.
- In Galaxy Wearable: open Watch settings, then Notifications, and manage app notifications.
- On the watch: open Settings, then Notifications, then App notifications.

Check which messaging app your watch supports
Messaging support and access to conversation history depend on the phone’s operating system and the watch generation. Samsung’s current U.S. guidance says Samsung Messages is no longer supported on Galaxy devices running Android 12 or later, with the change beginning in July 2026. For those phones, Samsung recommends Google Messages. Samsung says Google Messages works on Wear OS watches such as Galaxy Watch4 and newer when the watch is connected to a Galaxy phone and Google Messages is the default app. Samsung Support: Samsung Messages discontinuation: Switch to Google Messages
Samsung also says older Tizen watches cannot use Google Messages and will not show full message history after the discontinuation, although they can still read and send texts. This is Samsung’s U.S. guidance; check your specific phone, watch, carrier, and software version because support and screens may vary.
