If reception is still poor, sync satellite data in the COROS app and choose the strongest GPS mode available on your exact PACE model. The steps below address common causes before moving on to support or a reset.
Why is my COROS GPS track inaccurate?
GPS reception can be blocked or reflected by dense tree cover, tall buildings, canyon walls and other obstructions. COROS also identifies refraction from large bodies of water as a possible source of discrepancies in distance, pace and the recorded track. Whenever practical, begin an outdoor activity where the watch has a clear view of the sky.

COROS states that wearable GPS devices are accurate within 3 meters (10 feet) of your actual location under normal conditions with a strong signal. That is general guidance, not a guarantee for every route or environment; obstructions and signal refraction can affect results. COROS explains these GPS limitations.

What to do when the watch is slow to connect
- Move to open sky. Step away from tall buildings, dense trees or other obstructions if you can.
- Wait for the activity screen’s satellite indicator to become solid or full. COROS recommends letting GPS “soak” for about one more minute after acquisition before you start recording.
- Sync the watch with the COROS app. If the watch has traveled a long distance or has not synced for several days, syncing can refresh satellite data and help it acquire an accurate position.
- Update satellite data manually if needed. In the COROS app, open Profile, find the watch under its device name, and select Satellite Data. COROS says a prompt may appear if the watch has not synced for over seven days. Remain in place while the update and GPS acquisition finish; with stale satellite data, accurate positioning may take two minutes or longer.

Which GPS mode should you use?
Use the strongest practical mode supported by your watch. COROS recommends All Systems On (High) for most scenarios on models that offer it, and Dual Frequency (Max) for difficult reception environments such as dense urban areas, canyons and heavily forested terrain. Dual Frequency uses more power, so the choice trades battery life for stronger reception in challenging conditions. Standard GPS is a battery-saving option, but may be less reliable when signals are obstructed.

These are the PACE models identified in COROS’s current GPS mode guide. Availability varies by model, so check the mode list on your own watch rather than assuming a setting is present. The guide’s general path is to long-press Back to open Control Center, then select Satellite Mode. What if an outdoor activity goes indoors?
Pause GPS recording when you enter a building. COROS says the watch continues searching for GPS indoors, which can affect recorded distance and the track.
How to handle an “AGPS verification failed” message
If the COROS app displays this message while updating satellite data, try the following in order:
- Disable any VPN connected to the phone.
- Switch the phone’s network between cellular data and Wi-Fi, then retry.
- On iPhone, open Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data, then retry.
- If the error continues, sync the watch before trying a restart or reset.
COROS’s restart instruction is to hold the watch’s Power button for 15 seconds. Its reset path is System > More Settings > Reset > Reset All. Treat a reset as a later troubleshooting step, follow the instructions currently shown on the watch, and note that COROS says this reset does not delete data saved in your COROS app/account. When to contact COROS Support
If the track remains inaccurate or GPS still will not acquire after these checks, contact support through the COROS app: Profile > Customer Support > Contact Support. Describe the problem and submit feedback. To make the report more useful, include your exact PACE model, firmware version, location and surroundings, whether the satellite indicator was full before recording, whether satellite data was updated, and what looks wrong in the track.
COROS’s status page includes dated historical GPS and satellite incidents; old notices and their resolution dates do not establish that a problem is currently affecting PACE watches. For a sudden widespread issue, check the live COROS Status page.
