Wear your Galaxy Watch clean and secure, walk with a natural arm swing, and give the display time to update. Samsung says its step-count algorithm updates after detecting 10 continuous steps, so a brief delay does not necessarily mean steps were lost. If totals differ between your watch and phone, first check which step data Samsung Health is showing.
Why Galaxy Watch step counts can seem inaccurate
Arm movement affects step detection
Samsung says some watches may not count steps when the wearer’s hand is not moving. Pushing a lawn mower or cart can limit arm movement, and holding your wrist up to look at the display may change your arm position in a way that interferes with the watch’s accelerometer. Walk with a natural arm swing rather than keeping your wrist raised.
