Before you begin
Check these requirements and account details before trying to move your Fitbit account:
- A compatible phone: Google Health requires Android 11 or later, or iOS 16.4 or later. Google lists Huawei P8 Lite, Huawei P9 Lite, Xiaomi Mi 6, and Huawei P20 Lite as devices that may have compatibility issues even if they meet the baseline requirements.
- Your Fitbit account: Be ready to sign in with the account you used for Fitbit. If you created that account with a Gmail address, sign in to Google Health with that address, open Settings, and follow the migration prompt if one appears; using Gmail alone does not complete the move.
- A Google Account: A Google Account is required. Google Health cannot be linked to a Google Workspace account, so use another Google Account or create one.
- Time to review your choices: The migration cannot be undone after the final step. Decide which historical Fitbit information you want to move and confirm the destination account before proceeding.
How to migrate Fitbit to Google
First try the in-app process, but do not assume every account remains eligible after the stated deadline. Google says Fitbit-account access ended on May 19, 2026, and its documentation says data-deletion processing began on July 15, 2026. One Google help page says some users may still be able to migrate during deletion processing, while a Google Health Community specialist response calls July 15 the migration deadline. If the app blocks the move or you cannot sign in, contact Google Health Customer Support.
- Open the Google Health app. Try signing in with the Fitbit account you want to move.
- Check for the move prompt. For an account that can move, Google says a notification to move the account appears in the app.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. Review the Fitbit data and setup choices shown. Choose the historical information you want transferred.
- Confirm the destination Google Account. Make sure it is the account you intend to use. If Google says the account is incompatible, choose another Google Account or create one.
- Confirm only after reviewing everything. Google says the process takes a few minutes and can be canceled until the final step. Once completed, it cannot be undone.
- Manage the moved data through Google. After migration, the Fitbit data you selected is associated with your Google Account and can be managed through Google Account settings and the Google Health app.
Moving a Fitbit family account
Family accounts have additional rules. When a guardian moves a Fitbit account, only children below 13—or below the relevant age in their country—move with that guardian. Older children and adults must move their own accounts.

To keep the family connected in a Google family group, the person moving the account must have successfully moved their own Fitbit account, be a primary or secondary Fitbit guardian, and be the Google family-group manager.
- Open the Google Health app and choose the family-move option if it is available.
- Review the Fitbit family members shown and continue.
- Follow the instructions to create Google Accounts for eligible children.
Follow the app’s current prompts; family options depend on the family group and applicable age rules.

What happens to your Fitbit data?
The selected historical Fitbit data is associated with the Google Account after the move. The specific health information available can depend on the device or service.

If the migration prompt is missing or the move fails
Late eligibility is account-specific. Google’s documentation includes a possibility that some users can migrate during deletion processing, while a Google Health Community specialist response describes July 15, 2026 as the migration deadline and advises users who have not transferred to contact support immediately. Public information cannot confirm any particular account’s remaining eligibility.
- Open Google Health and try signing in with the Fitbit account.
- If the app shows a migration prompt, follow the steps and review your choices before confirming.
- If Google says your Google Account is incompatible, try a different Google Account or create one.
- If you appear eligible but cannot migrate or sign in, contact Google Health Customer Support.
Do not assume that reinstalling the app will restore data or access that has already been removed.

Can I still move my Fitbit account after July 15, 2026?
It depends on the account. Google’s documentation says some users may be able to migrate during the deletion-processing period, while a Google Health Community specialist response calls July 15 the migration deadline. Try the app and contact Google Health Customer Support if you are blocked.

Can I migrate a Fitbit account made with Gmail?
A Gmail address used for a Fitbit account does not complete migration by itself. Sign in to Google Health with that address, open Settings, and follow the migration prompt if it appears.
Can I use a Google Workspace account?
No. Google says Google Health cannot be linked to a Google Workspace account. Choose another Google Account or create one.
Can I reverse the Fitbit-to-Google move?
No. You can cancel until the final step, but Google says a completed migration cannot be undone.
How do I export or delete Fitbit health data after migration?
Google says you can export data through Google Account Health Data and Privacy settings and delete selected health and wellness data there.

Try the official Google Health app prompt, but treat late eligibility as account-specific. Sign in with the Fitbit account, review the selected data and destination Google Account, and contact Google Health Customer Support if an eligible move fails. The completed migration is irreversible, and Google says the selected historical data remains associated with your Google Account.
