- Read the minutes normally. Use the minute hand and the minute track. Minutes run from 00 to 59 in 24-hour time just as they do in 12-hour time.
- Put the two parts together. Write or say the hour first and then the minutes, separated by a colon. An hour value of 18 with the minute hand at 20 means 18:20.
- Convert only if you want the familiar 12-hour version. For hour values 13 through 23, subtract 12 from the hour. So 18:20 is 6:20 p.m.; the minutes remain 20.
In the 24-hour clock, the day starts at 00:00 and ends with 23:59. The hour range is 00 through 23, and the minute range is 00 through 59. The hour value marks where you are in the day; the minutes work just as they do in 12-hour time. You do not add 12 to, subtract 12 from, or otherwise alter the minute value when converting between formats.

Convert 24-hour hour values to familiar time
The table shows the complete mapping from 00–23 to the familiar 12-hour clock. Values 00 through 11 correspond to the hours after midnight and before noon; 12 is noon; and values 13 through 23 are the afternoon and evening hours. For the values from 13 through 23, subtract 12 to find the corresponding p.m. hour.

For any value from 13 to 23, subtract 12 to get the corresponding p.m. hour: 18 becomes 6 p.m. The minutes do not change. For example, 23:45 is 11:45 p.m. The two special reference points are 00:00, the start of the day at midnight, and 12:00, noon. They are not converted by subtracting 12 in the same way as 13–23: 00:00 is midnight, while 12:00 is noon.
Examples make the conversion easier to apply. If the watch indicates 13:05, the time is 1:05 p.m.; 14:40 is 2:40 p.m.; 18:20 is 6:20 p.m.; and 23:59 is 11:59 p.m., the final minute of the day. In every case, only the hour changes when translating from a 24-hour value to a familiar p.m. time. A value such as 08:40 remains 8:40 a.m., and 12:40 remains 12:40 p.m.

Check which Weekender dial you have
Weekender dial markings are not identical across all models. Timex Canada describes the 38 mm fabric-strap T2N654 as displaying time in 24-hour format. Timex US describes both 12- and 24-hour indexes on the 40 mm fabric-strap TW2W86100 and the 40 mm leather-strap TW2W86800.

Those examples show why it is worth looking closely at your own dial: some descriptions identify a 24-hour format, while others specify both 12- and 24-hour indexes. A dial with both kinds of index gives you two sets of hour references to inspect, but the exact way those marks are arranged is a property of that particular dial. Do not assume the numerals or their positions match another Weekender just because the watches share the same collection name.
To identify the version you own, locate the model number on the caseback and use that reference to find the matching Timex product page or manual. Compare the specific product description and, if available, its dial image with your watch. The T2N654 is a useful example of a Weekender described as displaying time in 24-hour format; the two 40 mm models above are examples described as having both 12- and 24-hour indexes. These product descriptions establish that such layouts exist, not that every Weekender has either layout.
Check the caseback reference rather than relying only on the strap, case size, color, or collection name. Those details do not by themselves establish which hour markings or movement behavior your watch has. - If the hour aligns with 18 and the minute hand indicates 30, read it as 18:30, or 6:30 p.m.
- If the hour aligns with 23 and the minute hand indicates 50, read it as 23:50, or 11:50 p.m.
- If the hour value is 14 and the minute hand indicates 05, the notation is 14:05, or 2:05 p.m. The leading zero in the minutes simply keeps the minutes in the 00–59 range.

Does every Timex Weekender have a 24-hour dial?
