This article explains how to recognize a low battery, how to identify the correct cell for your exact model, and when a service center is the only sensible choice.
Signs that the battery is running low
For G-Shock Module 3567, Casio’s operation guide lists three warning signs: a large timekeeping error, dim display contents, and a blank display. Casio also warns that continuing to run the watch on low power can cause it to malfunction, so treat these symptoms as a reason to act rather than a reason to wait.
These signs come from that module’s manual. Other modules may describe different symptoms, so check the guide that matches your watch before drawing conclusions.
Find the correct battery for your exact model
G-Shock batteries are not interchangeable across the line. Casio says to use only the battery type named in the specifications for your watch, because a different type can cause malfunction. Identify the battery with these steps:

- Locate the model name and module number on the watch or in its paperwork. The module number is what determines which Casio guide applies.
- Open the operation guide for that module on Casio’s official support pages, or ask your retailer or service center to look it up for you.
- Find the battery type in the specifications section and write it down before you contact anyone. Do not assume a battery number from another G-Shock applies to yours.
Why Casio points owners to a professional
Casio’s Module 3567 manual tells owners to leave battery replacement to the original retailer or an authorized CASIO service center. Casio’s guidance for another module states that battery replacement requires special tools. Casio’s general warning is that special tools may be needed.
The reason goes beyond convenience. A G-Shock is rated water resistant because of its case seals, and opening the case without the checks that follow a replacement leaves that rating unverified. A home battery change can therefore leave you with a watch that looks fine and still lets moisture in.

The water-resistance check and gaskets
Casio’s Module 3567 manual gives a direct instruction: “When replacing the battery, also request a check for proper water resistance.” The manual is written by CASIO for that module, and the request should be made at the time of the battery change.
The Module 5719 manual adds two points. A trained technician inspects water resistance, and the water-resistance gasket should be replaced periodically, which Casio describes as “about once every two or three years.” That interval is general manual guidance. It is not a promise for every model, and it does not account for how hard a particular watch is used or where it is worn.

Module 3567 also cautions that damaged or cracked ornamental resin parts may cause the watch to be returned without the requested servicing. Inspect the watch before you hand it over.
Where to take the watch
There are three realistic routes. Only the first two are the routes Casio’s guides recommend. The table shows what each option offers, based on the cited Casio material and on Casio Malaysia’s service page, which describes one regional service and is not a global specification.

- The battery type, matched to the module number on your watch.
- That a water-resistance check is included in the job.
- Whether the gasket will be inspected or replaced, and whether that carries an extra charge.
- The fee for your model and the expected turnaround, including any shipping or handling if you are sending the watch away.
- That the ornamental resin parts are not cracked, since damage can result in the watch being returned without servicing.
Solar-powered and rechargeable G-Shocks
Not every G-Shock uses a standard user-replaceable cell. Some models are solar-powered or rechargeable, and the battery route for those can differ. Before you treat a watch as a conventional battery swap, confirm the power system in its module guide, and let the service center confirm it as well.

Signs that call for a service center right away
Casio’s Module 3516 guidance covers moisture. If you suspect water has gotten inside the case, or the crystal keeps fogging, stop using the watch and take it to an original retailer or an authorized Casio service center. Do not open the case to dry it yourself.
What this guidance does and does not cover
The manuals cited here are module-specific, so match your watch to its exact module guide before applying any detail. The Malaysian service description reflects one region and may change, and service offerings and fees can differ elsewhere. The exact battery type, the cost of a replacement, and the inclusions of a service are only as reliable as the provider’s written confirmation for your model.
