Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf a chronograph hand repeatedly stops away from zero, it usually needs a model-specific zero-position adjustment—not another ordinary stopwatch reset. Find the exact watch model or movement, follow its manual’s correction procedure, and avoid trying button sequences from a different watch. If the manual’s adjustment does not work, contact the manufacturer or a qualified watchmaker.
First distinguish a normal reset from zero-position adjustment
A normal reset returns the chronograph hands to their stored zero position. If a hand consistently stops short of the mark, repeating that reset may not correct it: the watch may need its zero position recalibrated. The adjustment is separate from ordinary chronograph operation, and the controls vary by model.

Identify your exact model before using the crown or pushers
Look for the model name or number on the case, paperwork, or manufacturer’s support site, then open the matching instruction manual. A brand may use different procedures across models: crown positions, which pusher controls each hand, and whether a short press or a hold moves the hand are not universal.

Manufacturer examples show why the procedure matters
These examples are limited to the named styles and movements. Use them only if they match your watch and its instructions.
Skagen: different styles use different controls
Skagen’s official watch-instructions page describes more than one approach. For Style 1, its instructions say to pull the crown to position 2 and press A once to set the chronograph second hand to zero, then set the time and return the crown to position 1. For Style 2, the crown is pulled to position 3; A adjusts the 1/10-second hand, while B adjusts the second and minute hands. Presses move the hands by a position, while holding a button moves them quickly. These sequences are not interchangeable.
Citizen: adjustment depends on the movement and hand
For the H50 movement, Citizen distinguishes normal chronograph operation from correction: with the crown in position 0, button A resets the chronograph in ordinary use. If the minute hand is off zero, Citizen says to press A repeatedly; the second hand has its own adjustment instructions. The H50 manual also notes that a strong shock may move the chronograph minute hand away from zero. See Citizen’s H50 chronograph instructions.

The B620 procedure is different. Citizen instructs users to pull the crown out two steps, hold the upper-right button for two seconds, and use that button to set the chronograph second hand to zero. The hand advances continuously while the button is held. After pushing the crown back in, press the lower-right button to complete the process. Follow the full B620 misaligned-hand instructions for the exact sequence.
On the 0580 movement, Citizen says the chronograph second and 1/20-second hands may be off zero after battery replacement or a strong shock. Its instructions use crown position 2, with B for the chronograph second hand and A for the 1/20-second hand; then reset the time, return the crown to position 0, and check the zero position. Consult the Citizen 0580 manual for the complete procedure. These possible triggers do not establish what caused an individual watch’s misalignment.
OS20/FS00: wait for the hands to finish moving
The WatchStation BMW instructions for OS20/FS00 movements use crown position 3, with A for the second hand and B for the chronograph minute and hour hands. That manual gives a specific caution: “Do not return the crown to position 1 while the hands are returning to ‘0.’ Doing so will cause the position of the hands to be recognized as the new ‘0’ position.” Follow this warning only for the relevant movement and its instructions. The guide is available in the WatchStation BMW watch instructions.

Braun BN0095: select and adjust hands in correction mode
The Braun BN0095 manual instructs users to pull the crown to position II and hold A and B together for at least two seconds to enter correction mode. A adjusts the selected hand; B selects the next hand. See the BN0095 instruction manual for its full procedure.

If adjustment does not fix the problem
If you have followed the instructions for the exact model and the hands still will not align—or the watch continues to malfunction—stop rather than trying another model’s sequence. Ask the watch manufacturer or a qualified watchmaker to assess it. The manuals describe model-specific corrections, but they do not establish a universal cause or a universal point at which service is required.
