Samsung’s support guidance requires a factory reset, which erases data stored on the watch. Try a remote erase first if the watch appears in Samsung Find or SmartThings Find. If that is unavailable, reset the watch through its recovery menu.

Before resetting your Samsung watch
A factory reset is permanent for data stored locally on the watch. Depending on your model and backups, this may include settings, downloaded apps, watch faces, offline music, pairing information, and health or activity data that has not synchronized elsewhere.
- Stop guessing if you are unsure of the code. If Auto factory reset was enabled, Samsung says 20 failed PIN or pattern attempts can trigger a reset.
- Confirm that you can sign in to the Samsung account used with the watch.
- Have any previously connected Google account credentials available too.
- If the watch is still usable and connected, check for a recent backup in Galaxy Wearable before erasing it.
- Charge the watch adequately before attempting a recovery reset.
- For an LTE model, note the carrier. A new activation QR code may be required after the reset.
The watch’s screen lock is different from your Samsung-account password, Google-account password, phone screen lock, carrier PIN, and Samsung Wallet authentication code. Changing one of those passwords will not reveal the watch PIN or pattern. See Samsung’s guidance on forgotten Galaxy Watch PINs and patterns.

Method 1: Remotely erase the watch
Remote erasure is the easiest option when the watch is linked to your Samsung account and remote-finding features were enabled previously. It is an erase command, not an unlock command, and it permanently deletes the watch’s data.
Using Samsung Find
- Open Samsung Find in a browser.
- Sign in with the Samsung account associated with the watch.
- Select the watch from your device list.
- Choose Erase data.
- Confirm the erase and enter your Samsung-account password if prompted.
- Wait for the watch to reset and reboot.
- Pair it again through the Galaxy Wearable app.
Using SmartThings Find
Samsung’s troubleshooting instructions also use SmartThings Find for remote erasure:
- Open SmartThings Find.
- Sign in and select the watch.
- Select Erase data.
- Confirm the action and authenticate with your Samsung-account password.
- Set up the watch again after it reboots.
The watch must appear in the relevant service, and remote connection or finding functionality may have needed to be enabled before the watch became inaccessible. If the watch is offline, the erase may remain pending until it reconnects. Samsung’s support information also says Galaxy Fit devices cannot be remotely reset through SmartThings Find.

Method 2: Reset a locked watch through recovery mode
Use recovery mode when remote erase is unavailable or does not complete. Button timing and menu names differ across Galaxy Watch generations, so do not assume one sequence works on every model.

General procedure for many Galaxy Watch models
- If Samsung’s instructions for your model require it, open the phone’s Settings > Connections > Bluetooth, tap the gear beside the watch, and choose Unpair.
- Power off the watch.
- Turn it on again.
- When Rebooting… appears, release the buttons.
- Immediately press and release the Home/Power key repeatedly to open the Reboot Mode menu.
- Continue pressing the Home/Power key until Recovery is highlighted.
- Press and hold the Home/Power key to select it.
- On supported Wear OS models, choose Wipe data/factory reset, then Factory data reset.
- Confirm the reset and reboot when prompted.
- Wait for the Welcome screen, then pair the watch through Galaxy Wearable.
Samsung’s detailed instructions are available in its watch reset troubleshooting guide and its factory-reset support page.
Galaxy Watch3
For the Galaxy Watch3, Samsung instructs users to hold the Power/Home and Back keys together while powering on until Rebooting… appears. Then follow the model’s recovery-menu prompts.
Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, and Watch6 families
Samsung identifies these Wear OS families as displaying an additional recovery menu. Select Wipe data/factory reset, then Factory data reset, confirm, and reboot. Other Wear OS and older Tizen models may show different labels or timing.

Method 3: Reset through Galaxy Wearable or the watch
These options are useful when you still know the lock and can access the watch. They generally do not help when a forgotten PIN or pattern prevents operation.
From Galaxy Wearable
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the connected phone.
- Tap Watch settings, if shown.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset, then confirm.
For Galaxy Fit and Fit2, Samsung lists Galaxy Wearable > About band > Reset band.
From the watch
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Reset.
- Tap the checkmark and follow the prompts.
What happens after the reset?
You must pair the watch again
When the Welcome screen appears, open or install Galaxy Wearable, pair the watch with your phone, sign in to any requested accounts, and restore an available backup. Check for watch and Galaxy Wearable software updates afterward.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAccount verification may be required
After a reset, the watch may require verification of an account previously associated with it. Samsung support pages refer to both Google-account verification and signing in to the same Samsung account, depending on the device or software. Have both sets of credentials available.

This protection is designed to deter unauthorized use; it is not a way to recover the forgotten watch PIN. If you bought the watch second-hand and it requests another person’s account, contact the previous owner or seller. Do not rely on unofficial bypass tools.
LTE service may need reactivation
A reset can remove the watch’s cellular setup. Samsung says an LTE watch activated with a carrier-issued QR code may require a new QR code afterward. Contact the carrier that provides the watch’s service; do not assume the old code will work or that a universal reactivation fee applies.

The watch does not appear in Samsung Find
It may be linked to another Samsung account, offline, or missing previously enabled remote-finding features. Try the recovery-mode reset instead. Galaxy Fit devices have more limited remote-reset support.
Remote erase does not complete
Check that you are using the correct Samsung account, refresh Samsung Find or SmartThings Find, and allow the watch to reconnect to a known network. If the erase remains unavailable, use recovery mode.

The recovery menu will not appear
- Make sure the watch is actually powering off and rebooting.
- Use the correct key combination for your model.
- When Rebooting… appears, release the keys and immediately begin the repeated Home/Power presses.
- Do not leave the Reboot Mode menu idle; the watch may start normally.
- Keep the watch charged.
If a button is stuck or damaged, use Samsung’s service-center locator or its repair service.
The watch rejects the account after resetting
Try the Samsung account and Google account previously used with the watch, check your credentials, and allow the watch to connect to Wi-Fi or the phone. If you own the watch but cannot complete verification, contact Samsung support. For a used watch, the previous owner or seller must usually resolve the account association; Samsung does not promise a universal account-protection override.
LTE does not return
Contact the carrier and ask whether the watch needs a replacement activation QR code or a new eSIM setup. This is separate from the Samsung reset process.
When to contact Samsung
Contact Samsung for damaged buttons, hardware faults, recovery-mode failures, or unresolved ownership and setup problems. Out-of-warranty service may cost money depending on the model, warranty status, diagnosis, location, and repair type. Contact the carrier for LTE activation issues and the previous owner or seller for a second-hand account lock.
Quick answer
- A forgotten Samsung Watch PIN or pattern cannot be recovered through Samsung’s supported process.
- The practical solution is a factory reset.
- Remote erase is convenient but permanently deletes watch data.
- Recovery mode is the fallback when remote erase is unavailable.
- Have both Samsung-account and Google-account credentials ready.
- Backups may restore some synchronized data, but not necessarily everything stored locally.
- An LTE watch may need a new carrier QR code after resetting.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: A forgotten Samsung watch lock requires a factory reset, not a password-recovery procedure. Try Samsung Find first; otherwise use the model-specific recovery reset, then pair the watch again and complete any account or LTE verification.
