Why instructions for other Rado calibers may not apply
Rado’s manual instructions vary by movement. The following examples show why a procedure should be followed only when the caliber named in the manual matches the watch.
Caliber 642: second time zone and date
For caliber 642, Rado’s manual says to pull the crown to position 2 and turn it counterclockwise to set the date, or clockwise to set the second time zone. To set the time, pull the crown to position 3 and turn it in either direction. The manual says to push the crown back to position 1 after setting, and advises against setting the date between 8 pm and 2 am. Caliber 771: date and hour adjustment
For caliber 771, Rado assigns time and second-time-zone setting to crown position 3. At position 2, the date and hour can be adjusted, with the hour hand moving in one-hour jumps. The manual also advises against setting the date between 8 pm and 2 am and says to return the crown to position 1. These instructions are specific to caliber 771, not confirmed for R763. The cited Rado manual procedures end by pushing the crown back to position 1. Rado says the normal crown position ensures water resistance only if the watch is not damaged. Returning a crown to position 1 is not a guarantee that an individual watch remains water-resistant.
