To set a Timex Deepwater Arctic 200, first unscrew its crown counterclockwise, then pull it out to set the hands. If your crown has a clear middle position that changes the date, use that position for the date; push the crown fully in and screw it clockwise when finished. Timex’s setting directions come from a general multi-model manual, not an Arctic 200-specific chapter, so stop if the crown positions do not behave as described—never force the crown.
Before you start
Timex identifies the Deepwater Arctic 200 as a quartz analog watch with a screw-down crown. The US model is TW3A02000; Timex’s EU page lists TW3A01900. The setting guidance below follows Timex’s general user guide, which covers multiple watch layouts and does not confirm the date-setting mechanism for either Arctic 200 model. Set the watch while it is dry. The crown must be screwed back down before the watch is exposed to water; do not adjust it underwater.
Set the time
- Turn the crown counterclockwise to unscrew it. It may move outward slightly as it releases from the threads.
- Gently pull the crown to its outermost setting position. Turn it until the hands show the correct time.
- Push the crown fully back toward the case. Keep it pressed inward and turn clockwise until it is snug and the threads engage smoothly. Timex’s general manual describes screwing the crown in by pushing it firmly against the threaded case feature while turning clockwise. Do not overtighten it.
Set the date
If the crown has a distinct middle position
On the three-position crown described in Timex’s general manual, the middle position is used for quick date setting. Unscrew the crown first, then pull it gently to that middle detent. Turn it until the date is correct. Timex says the date advances between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.; avoid adjusting it during those hours, when the date mechanism may be engaged.

After setting the date, pull the crown fully out to set the time if needed, then push it all the way in and screw it clockwise until snug.
If there is no clear middle position or the date does not respond
Do not force the crown or keep trying different positions. Timex’s booklet describes more than one crown layout, and it does not specify which date mechanism is fitted to the Arctic 200 model numbers above. Push the crown back in and contact Timex or a watch professional for guidance specific to your watch.

Check the crown before wearing the watch
- Confirm the crown is pushed fully inward and screwed down snugly.
- If it catches, feels cross-threaded or will not tighten with gentle pressure, stop rather than forcing it.
- The Arctic 200 is listed as water resistant to 200 m, but that rating is not a reason to leave the crown unscrewed. Secure the crown before water exposure.
