- Unscrew the winding crown.
- Pull the crown all the way out.
- Turn it in either direction until the hands indicate the desired time. TUDOR Care’s time-setting tutorial uses this instruction for the Black Bay procedure.
- Push the crown back in, then screw it down fully.
Set the date on a model with quick date adjustment
Not every TUDOR model has a quick date function. On models that do, TUDOR Care’s Black Bay tutorial specifies the first notch and an anticlockwise turn:
- Unscrew the winding crown.
- Pull it out one notch.
- Turn it anticlockwise until the desired date displays.
- Push the crown back in and screw it down fully.
TUDOR Care’s date-setting tutorial describes this method for Black Bay models with the quick-date function. For applicable models, the English user guide likewise describes unscrewing the crown, pulling it to the first notch, and turning it until the date appears. It says the watch continues running during this adjustment. On models with a day display, the guide says to turn the crown anticlockwise to adjust the day.

Use the model-specific procedure for GMT watches
A GMT watch has separate reference-time and local-time adjustments, so do not assume its one-notch position works like the quick-date setting on a standard model. In TUDOR Care’s GMT tutorial, the fully pulled crown position adjusts reference time using the 24-hour hand and minute hand. With the crown one notch out, local time adjusts in one-hour increments. The bezel can be turned to read a third time zone against the 24-hour hand. Follow the tutorial and guide for your specific model to identify the hands and positions: TUDOR Care’s GMT function tutorial.
Check your model before adjusting
- Some TUDOR calibres have no date function, and crown positions or functions can differ between models.
- The English TUDOR user guide provides broader instructions for applicable models and directs Black Bay GMT owners to separate guidance.
- The Black Bay 58 GMT, model M7939G1A0NRU-0003, is one example of a watch whose crown is used to set the time and date. Its product information links full crown tightening after manipulation with helping ensure water resistance; that model-specific example is not proof that every TUDOR uses the same mechanism.
Secure the crown when finished
After setting the watch, press the crown back into its normal position and screw it down completely. TUDOR’s Black Bay tutorials include this as the final step, and TUDOR associates a fully tightened screw-down crown with water resistance. Do not leave the crown unscrewed after adjustment.
