Check your Royal Oak Offshore’s exact calibre before turning the crown: setting steps differ between models, and some Offshore watches have no date while perpetual calendars use separate correctors. The instructions below are specific to the calibre named in each section. If you cannot confirm yours, use the model-specific manual linked from Audemars Piguet’s 26420IO.OO.A009CA.01 product page as a reference, or contact AP before adjusting it.
Identify your calibre before setting the watch
Find the calibre or reference in the watch paperwork or case documentation, then match it to the corresponding Audemars Piguet user guide. The crown positions and date-setting method are not universal across the Royal Oak Offshore range. For example, calibre 4409 has no date display, while calibre 2885 has a perpetual calendar with individual correctors. AP’s 26420IO.OO.A009CA.01 page identifies a current Offshore with calibre 4401 and provides an interactive user manual.

Use the restriction stated in the manual for your calibre rather than applying one time window to every Offshore. The 4401 and 3120 guides specify 18:00–01:00; AP’s 2024 guide for calibres 2713, 2714 and 2716 specifies 8 pm–1 am.
Set the time and date on calibre 4401
The following sequence follows AP’s Royal Oak Offshore calibre 4401 guide. Its crown positions and date warning should not be assumed to apply to other calibres.

- With the crown in position A, wind the watch by turning it 30 times.
- Unscrew the crown, then pull it to position D.
- Turn the hands until the date changes. That change identifies midnight, helping you distinguish AM from PM.
- Continue advancing the hands clockwise to the target time. AP’s guide says the date does not change during this time-setting step.
- Push the crown to position C.
- Turn the crown clockwise until the date is correct. Do not set the date between 18:00 and 01:00.
- Push the crown back to position A and screw it down as directed by the guide to preserve water resistance.
How the setting steps differ on other calibres
Calibre 3120: date correction with the crown
AP’s 3120 guide calls for winding 30 turns with the crown unscrewed in position B. Pull the crown to D to set the hands; turn them until the date changes to identify midnight, then advance clockwise to the target time. Push the crown to C to correct the date clockwise, avoiding the 18:00–01:00 window. Return the crown to A and screw it down.
Calibre 4404: crown positions, but no stated date window
The 4404 guide uses position D for setting the hands, C for date correction and A for the screwed-down crown. The displayed guide text does not state a restricted date-setting window, so do not substitute a caution from another calibre’s instructions.

Calibre 4409: time only
AP’s 4409 guide lists hours, minutes and seconds, with no date. Unscrew the crown, pull it to C, set the hands clockwise, push it to B and screw it back to A. Do not use date-setting instructions for this version.

Calibre 2885: perpetual-calendar correctors
A perpetual calendar is not a simple date correction. AP’s 2885 guide says to establish midnight, then set the time to noon before operating the correctors, to avoid damaging the mechanism. The guide assigns separate correctors to the date at 4 o’clock, moonphase at 10, month and leap year at 8, day at 2, and week at 4. Follow the complete guide for your watch; do not improvise a correction sequence.

Calibres 2713, 2714 and 2716: positions 1, 2 and 3
In AP’s 2024 user guide, position 1 is neutral, position 2 is for rapid date correction, and position 3 is for setting the time. The manual warns: “Don’t perform date change between 8 pm and 1 am.” Use that guide’s instructions for the relevant calibre.

If you are unsure or a control resists
- Do not force a crown or calendar corrector. Stop if a control feels stuck or unusually resistant; the safe response depends on the watch and the cause is not established by these setting guides.
- Confirm the reference or calibre against the watch paperwork, case documentation or AP’s model-specific manual before proceeding.
- If you cannot identify the correct guide, or suspect a control is damaged, contact Audemars Piguet or a qualified service provider rather than trying another calibre’s procedure.
