Audemars Piguet lists examples at 50 m, 100 m and 300 m. Check the exact reference and the watch’s current condition before taking it into water; a rating on a product page cannot confirm that an older or damaged watch is still sealed.
Check the rating for your exact Offshore
“Royal Oak Offshore” covers different models, so do not use one reference’s rating as a guide to another. These examples on Audemars Piguet’s product pages illustrate the range:

These are model specifications, not a guarantee about every vintage, configuration or individual watch. Find the reference on your watch or its documents and confirm its rating with AP’s current information. A 100 m chronograph rating supports swimming when the watch is in suitable condition and its controls are secured, but that product listing does not describe the chronograph as a dedicated dive watch.

Check condition as well as the published rating
Water resistance depends on seals and the watch’s present condition. Wear, aging or an incident can undermine a rating that was specified for the model. AP’s 2024 English user guide recommends having seals checked annually and arranging water-resistance service after an incident or an unsatisfactory result. If the service history is unclear, or the watch has been dropped, opened or otherwise damaged, have its water resistance assessed by AP or an AP-authorized service provider before swimming.

Prepare the watch before swimming
- Confirm the reference and rating. Use the exact model information, not the Offshore collection name alone.
- Secure the controls. AP’s 2024 user guide says to check that the crown and push-pieces are correctly screwed into the case before swimming, according to the model. Do not force a control that does not screw down as expected.
- Consider the strap. AP advises against prolonged immersion of a watch equipped with a leather strap. A water-resistant case does not make leather suitable for extended time in water.
Rinse and dry it after swimming
After swimming, AP recommends rinsing the watch in clear water and drying it with a soft cloth. AP’s 2021 US terms also note that salt and chlorine are abrasive and corrosive, making prompt rinsing especially relevant after the sea or a chlorinated pool. Follow the care instructions for your particular watch and strap.
Swimming is not the same as scuba diving
The 300 m rating in the examples belongs to the specifically named Royal Oak Offshore Diver 15710ST. Do not treat the 100 m rating on a chronograph as evidence that it is a dive watch or suitable for scuba use. Match any activity to the exact model’s instructions and condition; the cited chronograph product page does not establish a scuba rating.
