Wind a hand-wound NOMOS Metro with the crown pushed in, turning it clockwise until it resists and will not turn farther. To set the time, pull the crown gently to its second position, adjust the hands, then push the crown back against the case.
How to wind a hand-wound NOMOS Metro
- Keep the crown pushed in. Wind with the crown in its normal position against the case—not pulled out.
- Turn the crown clockwise. Hold the watch securely and turn the crown upwards with your thumb and index finger. NOMOS’s hand-wound watch manual instructs owners to continue until the crown cannot be moved farther.
- Stop when resistance increases and the crown will not turn farther. NOMOS advises winding gently and evenly; do not force the crown past its stopping point. Its general guidance describes 20–40 turns as typical depending on the movement, not as a required count for every Metro.
NOMOS recommends winding a hand-wound watch daily, ideally at roughly the same time. Its general hand-wound guidance gives a reserve range of 42–53 hours across its manual-wind watches, depending on caliber. That range is not specific to every Metro.

How to set the time
- Pull the crown gently to its second position. The NOMOS manual describes a slight click; in this position, the seconds hand stops.
- Turn the crown to set the hands. Use a reliable time reference if you want to synchronize the watch.
- Push the crown back against the case. The seconds hand will resume and the watch will tick again.
Check your Metro reference before relying on specifications
Metro models do not all share one reserve figure. For example, NOMOS lists up to 43 hours for the manual-wind Metro 33 all silver, reference 1122, which has an Alpha caliber. That specification belongs to that reference; consult your watch’s reference or documentation for another Metro. NOMOS’s Metro 33 all silver product page gives the model-specific details.

What to expect from timekeeping
NOMOS says its mechanical watches achieve less than ten seconds of deviation per day. The company also says it regulates mechanical calibers in six positions over seven days. These are manufacturer-wide statements, not a measurement or guarantee for an individual watch. If your Metro’s deviation concerns you, compare its behavior over several days and consult NOMOS or an authorized watchmaker.
