To set up a Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, pair it with a compatible Android phone using Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app. The Ultra does not support iPhone pairing. Before you start, check your phone against Samsung’s regional compatibility guidance; Samsung Canada lists Android 11.0 or later and at least 1.5GB of RAM for the Watch Ultra generation, but some phone models may still be excluded.
Check that your phone is compatible
Samsung’s current guidance lists the Galaxy Watch Ultra as Android-only. Samsung Canada groups the Galaxy Watch7 series, Watch Ultra and Watch Ultra 2025 together, with a minimum of Android 11.0 and 1.5GB of RAM. Its compatibility page also cautions that certain phone models can be excluded even if they meet those general requirements. An iPhone cannot be paired with the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung’s Canada setup guidance distinguishes Wear OS watches from models that support iOS; the Ultra is in the Android-only group. Requirements for the Ultra should not be assumed to apply to every Galaxy Watch generation.
Set up and pair the Galaxy Watch Ultra
- Install or update Galaxy Wearable. Get Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app from an official app store on the compatible Android phone and make sure it is up to date.
- Turn on Bluetooth. Enable Bluetooth in the phone’s settings and keep the phone close to the watch during setup.
- Power on the watch. Press and hold the watch’s Home button until it starts.
- Open Galaxy Wearable and select the watch. Choose the Galaxy Watch Ultra when it appears in the app, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete pairing.
- Complete the requested setup prompts. Samsung says setup may ask you to sign in to Samsung and Google accounts. Available screens and optional choices can vary with the watch, phone, region, provider and software version.

If your phone does not find or connect to the watch
Try these checks in order, reopening Galaxy Wearable after each change:
- Confirm the phone meets Samsung’s requirements for your exact Watch Ultra generation and is not excluded by regional or model-specific guidance.
- Check that Galaxy Wearable is installed and updated, and that Bluetooth is enabled on the phone.
- Move the devices closer together. Samsung gives 10 m (32 ft) as the maximum Bluetooth connection range, but the usable distance varies with the environment.
- Restart both the phone and the watch, then launch Galaxy Wearable again and retry pairing.

What to expect during setup
The basic flow is to power on the watch, select it in Galaxy Wearable and follow the prompts. The precise screens and available settings are not identical across every watch model, phone, region or software version. If a prompt differs from these steps, follow the instructions shown in the app and check Samsung’s support page for your region and model.
