These specifications are plausibility checks. A listing that claims the same India-market F-91W-1 should not contradict them without explaining that it is a different regional or model variant. They are not a substitute for examining the actual watch.

Step 1: Ask for the photographs that matter
Before paying, request well-lit, in-focus photographs of three things:
- The entire front of the watch, straight on, so the dial, bezel lettering, buttons and display are readable.
- The case back, photographed close enough to read every engraving and the rectangular module-number box.
- The box, manual, warranty card and any stickers supplied with that specific unit.
Ask for a new photograph if the seller supplies only stock images, a distant wrist shot or a case-back image that is cropped or blurred. A seller who cannot show the back of the watch is asking you to accept the most important identification evidence sight unseen.
Step 2: Read the model and module markings
Find the module number
On an F-91W associated with Module 593, the number is documented as appearing in a rectangular box on the case back. Record the model text, module number and any other visible engraving exactly as printed. Do not rely on a seller typing “Module 593” in the description; inspect the marking on the watch itself.

Check the official manual
Casio’s support service lets you search its watch manuals by model name or module number and explains how to locate that number. Search using the marking from the photograph, then read the matching manual rather than stopping at the search result. The manual should describe the same display layout, button functions, alarm behavior, hourly signal, stopwatch, calendar and setting sequence that the listing and watch show.
Casio Bangladesh’s 1 October 2026 article, an independent retailer checklist rather than a Casio corporate standard, states: Search ‘Casio [module number] manual’ — the official manual must match the functions of your watch. Use that as a practical cross-check. A matching number is evidence of consistency, not conclusive authentication: a copied case back can carry a copied number.

Step 3: Inspect engraving, printing and molding
Case-back engraving
Examine the lettering at high magnification. Genuine-looking engraving should be clean, sharply defined and evenly spaced. Shallow marks, fuzzy edges, irregular depth, crowded text or a module number that does not agree with the manual are warning signs. Compare several letters rather than judging one character in isolation; molded and engraved surfaces can look different under uneven lighting.
Dial and bezel lettering
Look for evenly spaced CASIO, dial and bezel lettering with consistent line weight. Spelling mistakes, thick or uneven letters, blurred edges, misplaced symbols and noticeably off colors raise the risk of a counterfeit. The Casio Bangladesh checklist identifies these defects as indicators, but it is an independent retailer guide, not a published corporate acceptance test. Treat the print inspection as one layer of evidence alongside the module, functions and seller.

Check the resin case for rough flash, sharp unfinished edges, warped surfaces and inconsistent seams. Press each button once and observe whether it feels secure and returns cleanly. A very light-feeling watch, loose or gritty buttons, or a strong chemical smell are risk indicators. None proves fraud on its own: a damaged genuine watch, an old battery or poor storage can create similar symptoms.
Step 4: Test every function against the manual
If you can handle the watch in person, or if the seller provides a return period, run a complete functional check. Follow the manual’s button sequence instead of relying on a demonstration video for a different module.
- Timekeeping: set the time and switch between 12-hour and 24-hour display if the manual specifies both.
- Light: press the light control and verify that the LED illuminates the display in the expected way.
- Stopwatch: start, stop and reset it, checking that the display behavior matches the manual’s 1/100-second stopwatch description for the relevant variant.
- Daily alarm: set an alarm, confirm the indicator appears, and verify that it sounds at the programmed time.
- Hourly signal: enable and disable the signal and check the indicator and chime sequence.
- Calendar: advance the date and confirm that the calendar changes according to the manual’s procedure.
- Button modes: cycle through every mode and make sure each button performs the function assigned in the manual.
A watch that cannot perform a documented function, has a different display layout or uses a different setting sequence deserves a return or refusal. A successful demonstration is useful but not decisive: sophisticated copies can imitate the common functions buyers usually test.

Step 5: Evaluate the physical feel without overtrusting it
The F-91W is a small resin digital watch. Compare the apparent proportions and feel with the regional dimensions and 21 g reference when the listing claims to be the India F-91W-1. A noticeably undersized or oversized case, an implausibly heavy body or a band and bezel that do not resemble the claimed resin construction need an explanation.

Casio’s India page lists China as the country of origin for that F-91W-1 SKU, so “made in China” is not evidence of a fake. Conversely, “made in Japan” is not a universal authenticity requirement for every F-91W variant. Judge the origin marking together with the exact model, module, construction, functions and seller evidence.
Step 6: Treat packaging and warranty paperwork as supporting evidence
Compare the box and manual with the model and region claimed by the listing. Missing instructions, implausible packaging, mismatched model text or a warranty card with no usable terms increase uncertainty. Packaging can be copied, however, so a convincing box does not independently authenticate the watch.
Look for a written warranty that identifies the responsible seller or service channel, states the coverage period and explains how a claim is made. An unfilled card, a vague promise in chat or a logo on a box is weaker evidence than a verifiable seller and a practical return policy.
Step 7: Assess the seller before assessing the bargain
Authenticity risk includes what happens if the watch is wrong. Record the seller’s legal or marketplace identity, fulfillment party, location and contact method. Prefer a listing with an identifiable seller, a clear return window and terms that allow you to inspect and test the watch. Ask whether the photographed watch is the exact unit you will receive; marketplace inventory can vary even under one product title.

Price is a risk signal, not a verdict. Casio Bangladesh’s 1 October 2026 retailer checklist calls a price far below the market price “the biggest red flag of all.” That is a warning from the retailer, not a measured counterfeit statistic. A clearance sale, regional pricing difference or used condition can explain a low price, but the seller should be able to explain it and still offer a usable return path.
How to compare two F-91W listings
Score each listing on the same six questions instead of anchoring on the cheapest offer.

The Casio authenticity page identified for this subject concerns specified scientific calculators and describes QR-code and package-hologram checks. Casio says that its web result is an estimate and does not necessarily guarantee that a product is genuine. It is therefore not a watch-authentication service. Do not enter an F-91W package code there and present the result as proof.

For an F-91W, the defensible route is the combination of the correct manual, physical inspection, complete function test and seller verification. If you need a definitive determination for a disputed purchase, contact Casio through the support channel for your region with the model, module, photos and proof of purchase; do not assume an online calculator result settles the watch.

Common mistakes that produce false confidence
“The back says 593, so it is genuine.”
Module 593 is consistent with the F-91W relationship documented by Sensor Watch, but visible text can be copied. Confirm the display and button behavior with the 593 manual and inspect the quality of the engraving.
“It says made in China, so it is fake.”
The India-market F-91W-1 page lists China as the origin for that SKU. Origin alone cannot establish authenticity or fraud.
“The watch works, so it must be real.”
Copies can reproduce basic timekeeping, a light and a stopwatch. Test every documented mode and weigh the result with the physical and seller evidence.
“The box and warranty card look official.”
Packaging and cards can be copied or supplied with the wrong watch. Verify the watch itself and the enforceability of the warranty.
“The cheapest listing is the best deal.”
A low price may be legitimate, but an unexplained price far below the market increases risk. A returnable, well-documented listing can be safer than a marginally cheaper one.
If you already bought the watch
- Photograph the dial, case back, packaging and all paperwork before altering the watch or removing protective material.
- Record the model and module markings, then locate the matching Casio manual by model or module number.
- Run the light, alarm, hourly signal, stopwatch, calendar and timekeeping checks while the return period is open.
- Compare the printing, engraving, case and buttons with the checklist indicators and the claimed regional specifications.
- Save the listing, seller messages and receipt. If evidence conflicts, request a return promptly and state the specific mismatch rather than waiting for the return window to close.
Do not open the case merely to look for a movement unless you understand the risk. Removing the back can compromise water resistance, damage the gasket or affect a return claim, while an internal inspection still requires a qualified comparison.
A practical pass-or-pause checklist
- Actual front and case-back photographs are available and legible.
- The model and module markings agree with the listing.
- The module number leads to a Casio manual whose functions match the watch.
- Engraving, dial print and bezel lettering are sharp, even and correctly spelled.
- The case, resin parts and buttons show no unexplained roughness, looseness or chemical odor.
- Light, alarm, hourly signal, stopwatch, calendar and timekeeping operate as documented.
- The regional specifications are plausible for the stated variant.
- The seller is identifiable and provides written warranty and return terms.
- The price has a credible explanation rather than being far below the market without context.
Pause the purchase when several items remain unresolved. One reassuring clue should not cancel multiple independent warnings, and one cosmetic imperfection should not condemn a watch when the module, functions, seller and return protection all align.
Bottom line: use consistency, not a single giveaway
A real-looking F-91W is not authenticated by one engraving, one country-of-origin line or one online result. The strongest pre-purchase decision comes from matching the exact model and Module 593 marking to Casio’s manual, inspecting the print and construction, testing every documented function, and choosing a seller who provides clear photos, written warranty terms and a workable return. If the seller will not provide that evidence, the rational choice is to buy elsewhere.
