No single detail proves that a G-Shock GM-5600 is genuine. A counterfeit can copy the face, the case shape, and the packaging, so authenticity has to be built from several checks that point the same way. Start with the exact model suffix and compare the watch with Casio’s official page for that variant. Then check the seller and paperwork against Casio’s warranty and retailer guidance. Treat any package sticker check as a partial signal, and contact Casio when doubts remain.
Step 1: Identify the exact variant
The GM-5600 name covers several related references, and they do not share one colour or specification set. Before comparing anything, record the complete model designation, including the suffix such as -1 or U-1, from the watch, its box, or your receipt.
- Note the full model designation, including the suffix, from the watch, box, or paperwork.
- Open Casio’s international product page for that exact suffix: GM-5600U-1 official international product page or GM-5600-1 official international product page.
- Compare the face, case, band, and colour against the photographs and descriptions on that page only. A page for a sibling reference does not count.
If the suffix on the paperwork does not match the suffix on the watch, resolve that gap first. A mismatch of this kind is a reason to stop and check, not a detail to explain away.
Step 2: Use the published specifications as a mismatch screen
Casio’s two international listings give the same core dimensions, weight, materials, and water resistance, but they differ on battery life and on current status. The table below shows the values as Casio publishes them, with the pages checked in 2026.

| Item | GM-5600U-1 (Casio international page) | GM-5600-1 (Casio international page) |
|---|---|---|
| Case size | 49.6 × 43.2 × 12.9 mm | 49.6 × 43.2 × 12.9 mm |
| Weight | 73 g | 73 g |
| Case and bezel | Resin/stainless steel | Same core materials as listed on the page |
| Band | Resin | Not stated in the same terms on the listing reviewed |
| Water resistance | 200 m | 200 m |
| Battery (CR2016) | Approximately five years, per Casio’s estimate | Approximately two years, per Casio’s estimate |
| Listing status | Current listing | Labelled “Old Model” by Casio |
Use these figures to find discrepancies, not to confirm a watch. A matching specification is consistent with a genuine product, but it does not authenticate the individual watch. Battery figures are Casio’s approximate estimates for each listed model, not results you can reproduce on your own watch. A battery life that fits the other variant better than the one printed on your paperwork is worth investigating.
Step 3: Check the seller and keep the paperwork
Seller claims carry little weight on their own. A marketplace listing or a store’s description does not authenticate an individual watch, and this guide does not treat either as proof.

- Streamlined design, striking functional beauty, shock-resistant construction - a toughness-driven G-SHOCK with a monochromatic modern industrial look
- The digital GM-5600, with iconic shape and metal bezel, and the analog-digital combination GM-2100 take on an achromatic color scheme that highlights the chic beauty of simplicity and functionality
- For the GM-5600BM and GM-2100BM, black ion-plating is applied to all bezel components other than the top surface, adding depth and solidity to the bezel and amplifying the chic, unified look
- Confirm the seller’s authorisation. Casio’s U.S. watch FAQ explains how to find an authorised retailer and what purchase records to keep.
- Keep dated proof of purchase. Store the receipt, order confirmation, and warranty documents together with the watch.
- Read the warranty for the country of purchase. Casio’s U.S. timepiece warranty states that the warranty is valid only for service in the country of purchase. A watch bought abroad may need to be checked against that country’s terms, not the U.S. terms.
Step 4: Use the package check narrowly
Casio’s authenticity check page describes a QR/hologram check for packages that carry the Casio sticker. According to Casio, the result estimates whether the sticker is authentic and does not necessarily guarantee that the product is genuine. See About Authenticity Check on Casio Education.
Two limits apply. First, the page does not state that the check applies to GM-5600 packaging specifically, so do not assume every GM-5600 box carries the sticker or that the check covers this model. Second, a passing result on a sticker is one data point. Combine it with the variant comparison and the seller and paperwork checks above before drawing a conclusion. If the box has no such sticker, this step simply does not apply.

Step 5: Escalate when the evidence is still unclear
If the suffix, specifications, seller, and paperwork still leave material doubts, contact Casio rather than relying on an online opinion. Casio’s Watch Support page lists manuals, FAQs, repair information, contact options, and the G-SHOCK International Warranty Network. Ask Casio or an authorised service channel for guidance specific to your region, and provide the full model designation and your purchase records.

- A serial number, caseback engraving, box, warranty card, or purchase platform does not prove authenticity unless a Casio source says so for that specific feature. The Casio sources reviewed for this guide do not make that claim for those items.
- Commonly circulated online “tells” are not Casio-certified rules. Treat them as leads to check against Casio’s published information, not as verdicts.
- Casio’s published materials do not include a counterfeit rate for the GM-5600, and this guide does not offer one.
- This guide does not test watches or judge photographs. A remote image cannot settle authenticity on its own.
Casio itself says its authenticity check “does not necessarily guarantee that the product is genuine.” That limit applies to every step above.
