There is no reliable home test that proves a G-SHOCK is genuine. Identify the exact model, compare its markings and functions with the official Casio manual, and treat visual or tactile differences as reasons to investigate—not as a verdict. Casio UK says the only accurate way to determine whether a product is counterfeit is to have a Casio service centre assess it.
First, distinguish a listing check from an inspection
If you are considering an online listing
Photos can help you check whether the claimed model, dial layout and visible markings appear consistent with the official manual. They cannot establish that the watch’s functions work, reveal its service history, or conclusively authenticate it. Before buying, consider the seller, the written return terms and whether the purchase documentation is appropriate for your market. An unusually low price or convincing-looking packaging is not proof either way.

If you already have the watch
Record the model and module identifiers printed on the watch or shown in its documentation. Use those identifiers to find the matching manual through Casio Watch Support. A model-specific comparison is more useful than a generic list of features because G-SHOCK models do not all have the same functions or layouts.

- Match the model and module identifiers. Compare the markings on the watch—especially the case back—with the identifiers for the claimed model. A mismatch is a reason to ask questions, not by itself a complete authentication finding.
- Check the dial and layout. Compare the positions and appearance of the display, hands, indicators and text with the manual or official model information. Do not assume that a feature present on another G-SHOCK should appear on this one.
- Test the stated functions. Follow the manual’s instructions for the watch’s buttons and features. If a function is absent, behaves differently, or cannot be operated as described, note the specific discrepancy and seek further assessment.
Casio’s global support page provides routes to manuals, repairs, inquiries and G-SHOCK warranty resources; use the regional support options relevant to where the watch was sold.

Use finish and button feel only as supporting clues
Casio China’s official-store guidance describes neat, clear dial markings, a clear dial and firmer-feeling buttons as comparison points. These observations may support a closer inspection, but they cannot establish authenticity: condition, lighting, photography and model differences can affect what you see or feel. A poorly aligned mark or loose-feeling button is a warning sign, not proof of a counterfeit.
Casio Bangladesh’s checklist also recommends comparing case-back model and module markings, functions and finish with the manual. Its site identifies itself as an independent seller, so treat that checklist as seller guidance rather than a universal Casio authentication standard.

Check purchase and warranty documents in the right market
Keep the original invoice and any warranty materials, then confirm their relevance with local Casio support. Warranty procedures differ by market. For example, Casio India describes a process involving a warranty card with a barcoded serial number and the original purchase invoice; that India-specific requirement does not establish a universal serial-number or warranty rule for every model or country.

When to ask Casio for an assessment
If the model details, functions, finish or documents leave you uncertain, contact regional Casio support or a service centre using the routes on Casio Watch Support. Casio UK states that the only accurate way to determine whether a product is counterfeit is to send it to a service centre for assessment. Its guidance also says a product determined to be counterfeit will be returned as-is.
Until the watch has been assessed, do not rely on uncertain water resistance or expose it to water. A home inspection can identify inconsistencies worth investigating; it cannot replace a service-centre assessment.
