To put a planned route on a Garmin Enduro 4, send it as a course from Garmin Connect, then sync the watch. That course transfer is separate from the TopoActive maps Garmin says come preloaded on the watch: sending a course does not transfer or update map files.
Send a course to the Enduro 4 in Garmin Connect
Garmin’s Enduro 4 manual documents the app workflow. Menu icons can vary by app version.

- In Garmin Connect, open Menu > Training & Planning > Courses.
- Select the course you want to transfer.
- Tap the send-data control, choose the compatible Enduro 4, and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Sync the watch. Garmin says the course arrives during the next sync.
If you need to make the route first, open Menu > Training & Planning > Courses > Create Course, select a course type, follow the prompts, and save it before sending.

Send a saved course from Garmin Connect web
Garmin also documents a web workflow, though the Enduro 4 manual specifically describes the app procedure.
#1 Best Overall
- The 1.4” Power Sapphire lens harvests the sun’s energy, giving you more power and time between charges
- AutoSelect mode uses SatIQ technology to dynamically determine the GPS mode necessary to maximize battery life without compromising positional accuracy
- The rugged, lightweight design won’t slow you down, and the light UltraFit nylon band provides a secure, comfortable fit during all of your activities
- Navigation tools help you find your way with preloaded TopoActive and ski maps
- A superbright LED flashlight (twice as bright as the fēnix 7X multisport GPS watch) offers variable intensities with a strobe that matches your running cadence; red safety light mode helps you keep an eye on your immediate surroundings while running at night
- In Garmin Connect web, open Training & Planning > Courses and choose the course.
- Select Send to Device, choose the watch, and send the course.
- Sync the watch through Garmin Connect or Garmin Express.
Both workflows require selecting the compatible device and completing a sync. The app is the Enduro 4-specific documented route; the web steps come from Garmin’s general course-transfer guidance. Garmin’s course-transfer instructions explain the general process.
Understand courses versus maps
A course is a planned itinerary the watch can use for navigation, including turn-by-turn directions. A map is the geographic background that gives the route context. Garmin lists worldwide TopoActive maps as preloaded on the Enduro 4 and separately describes courses created in Connect or synced from third-party platforms. Garmin’s Enduro 4 product page describes those features.

- Designed for ultra-endurance athletes, with a lightweight design weighing just 63 g to help improve performance
- Take on the elements with a titanium bezel, scratch-resistant sapphire lens and built-in LED flashlight to light up the dark; UltraFit nylon band provides long-distance comfort - even in punishing conditions
- Up to 90 days of battery life in smartwatch mode (assumes all-day wear with 3 hours per day outside in 50,000 lux conditions) and 320 hours in GPS mode with solar charging (assumes continuous use for entire period in 50,000 lux conditions) - all with an always-on display, so you’re ready to take on the toughest challenges
- Preloaded TopoActive maps are optimized for outdoor activities to help keep your adventures on track
- Dynamic round-trip routing allows you to set a target destination for your run, bike or hike; Enduro 3 will continually adjust the route to get you back home on schedule
The documented course-send procedure transfers a course, not map files. The cited Garmin materials do not establish a supported Enduro 4 procedure for sideloading third-party maps, compatible map-file formats, or installing a regional map package. For map updates, consult current Garmin support for the device rather than assuming a course-transfer method applies.
Fix a course that does not appear after sending
- Check the selected device and prompts. In Garmin Connect, confirm that you selected the compatible Enduro 4 and completed the on-screen steps.
- Sync again. Garmin says course delivery occurs during the next sync; a send confirmation alone may not mean the watch has received it.
- Check generic course constraints. Garmin’s general guidance says a device may reject or fail to show courses if names share their first 15 characters, or if the device is near its course limit. Garmin describes 100 courses as usual for compatible devices but notes that some models have lower limits. These are generic support notes, not verified Enduro 4-specific limits. See Garmin’s course troubleshooting guidance.
Troubleshoot a Garmin Express sync failure
Use these steps when the problem is with Garmin Express over a USB connection. They are not explanations for a Bluetooth or phone-app sync failure.

Check the cable connection and USB mode
Confirm the watch is connected and recognized. Garmin’s device-detection guidance says Garmin Mode charges but does not transfer data, so check that the selected USB mode permits data transfer when using Express. Garmin’s device-detection guidance covers this distinction.
Update Express and watch software
Garmin recommends troubleshooting the connection and updating both Garmin Express and the device software when Express sync fails. Follow the current prompts in Express and on the watch. Garmin’s Express troubleshooting steps provide the official sequence.

Restore a missing Sync option
If Express does not show Sync, check the device’s upload preferences at Device > Tools & Content > Privacy > Change Upload Preferences.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHandle activity-upload errors only as activity errors
If Express says some files could not upload and identifies activity files, Garmin advises manually uploading the affected activities and then deleting those activity files from the device. This instruction is for activity files; it is not a general instruction to delete course or map files.
