If a feature seems to be missing from your Garmin fēnix 8, first check that it is supported by your exact watch edition and region. Then confirm the software is current, look in the feature’s correct menu, and check any phone or accessory requirements. The fēnix 8 family includes AMOLED and Solar models, so a feature shown in the family manual or on another owner’s watch may not apply to yours.
Start with the exact feature and watch model
Write down the feature’s name and where you expect to find it. Then identify your full fēnix 8 model, including whether it is AMOLED or Solar and its size, and note the software version shown on the watch. These details help distinguish an unsupported feature from one that is simply hidden, not yet installed, or dependent on another device.

Use Garmin’s fēnix 8 product information and owner’s manual to check the specific feature. The manual notes that some glances are not available on all product models. It also labels certain settings as AMOLED/MicroLED-only or Solar-only. For example, Always On Display, Watch Face Seconds, and Color Shift are listed for AMOLED/MicroLED models, while Keys & Touch is listed for Solar models. These are examples, not a complete feature matrix.

Check whether the watch has the required software
Garmin adds features and fixes through software releases, so a missing feature may reflect an older version. On Garmin’s fēnix 8 AMOLED software page, version 22.41 was listed as the latest release in July 2026; its listed changes address treadmill calibration and a possible reset during golf activity. Earlier entries show that features can be added later: version 22.35, dated May 2026, added a golf performance glance and Approach CT1 tag compatibility; version 21.25, dated February 2026, added Weight Tracking and Battery Manager glances. Release timing and availability may differ by model, so compare your watch’s installed version with the support page for your exact product.
Garmin documents Garmin Connect, Garmin Express, and Wi-Fi as update routes where supported. Connect can download updates automatically while the watch is connected, but Garmin says a released update may take up to a week to download before the watch prompts you to install it. If you want to check sooner, use a supported update route and follow the watch’s prompts.

Look in the right menu and add hidden glances
A feature may be installed without appearing in the list you usually browse. The fēnix 8 manual says some glances are not visible by default and can be added manually. Check the glance list, apps, controls, activity profile, and settings, depending on the kind of feature you are looking for. The manual’s instructions for customizing the glance list explain how to add available glances.

For example, Garmin documents Battery Manager as a glance that shows estimated battery life and a recent usage breakdown, and lists the fēnix 8 series among compatible watches. Weight Tracking is also documented as an update-added glance for supported fēnix 8 AMOLED and Solar models. Its basic weight glance does not require a Garmin Index Smart Scale; pairing that scale can provide additional body-composition details.

Check phone, app, and accessory dependencies
Some glances require a compatible phone connection, and other features may depend on an accessory. Check the manual’s section for the feature you’re missing to confirm what it needs. If a phone connection is required, verify that the watch is paired to the correct phone, Garmin Connect is up to date, and the app has the necessary permissions.
- On your phone, toggle Bluetooth off and back on, then restart the phone.
- Restart the watch and try pairing or syncing again.
- Remove an old pairing from another phone or tablet if the watch was previously connected to it.
- In Garmin Connect, confirm that you selected the correct watch model and allow the requested permissions. Garmin’s pairing guidance specifies Nearby Devices permission for discovery on Android 12 and later.
For Garmin’s full pairing steps, see its Bluetooth pairing troubleshooting guidance.

Recover a frozen or repeatedly rebooting watch
A forced restart is for a watch that is locked up; it will not make an unsupported feature available. On a button-equipped watch, Garmin’s guidance is to hold the power button until the watch switches off, which can take up to 30 seconds. Release the button, then turn the watch on again. Garmin warns that this may lose some recent steps or the current time.
