To set the Overseas moon-phase display, use the corrector pen supplied with your watch: first advance the moon disc until both moon depictions are hidden, then press the corrector once for each day since the last new moon. On the model covered by the cited Overseas manual, do not use the corrector between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. Check the guide for your exact reference before making any adjustment.
What the moon-phase display shows
The moon-phase indication is part of the watch’s perpetual calendar. The cited Overseas manual sets it by relating the moon disc to the date of the last new moon and the number of days that have elapsed since then. It describes the new moon symbol as a black or greyed-out full circle. Each press of the dedicated corrector advances the disc by one day. Vacheron Constantin’s Overseas setting instructions explain this procedure.

Before adjusting it
- Confirm your reference. The instructions cited here are for an Overseas perpetual calendar; check the user guide matching your exact watch rather than assuming every Overseas reference uses the same settings or restrictions. The official page for the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin 4300V/220G-H119 is one example, not proof that every reference is identical: Vacheron Constantin product page.
- Observe the manual’s restricted hours. For the Overseas manual cited here, do not press the moon-phase corrector between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. A separate Vacheron Constantin guide gives a different restricted window, which is why the instructions for your own reference matter: Vacheron Constantin guide for a perpetual-calendar and precision moon-phase watch.
- Use the supplied corrector pen. Do not substitute an improvised tool for the one described in the manual.
- Find the last new moon date. Use a calendar or other reliable lunar-date reference, then count the elapsed days to the date on which you are setting the display. The required number of presses depends on that date; there is no fixed number that applies every time.
How to set the moon phase
- Check that the time is outside the restricted period in the guide for your exact reference. For the cited Overseas manual, adjust only outside 6 p.m.–10 a.m.
- Locate the moon-phase corrector identified in your watch’s guide. Use the supplied corrector pen to press it until both moon depictions are hidden.
- Count the days elapsed since the most recent new moon.
- Press the corrector once for each elapsed day. The manual states that each press advances the moon disc by one day.
- Stop when the number of presses matches the elapsed-day count. If the calendar is out of sync or you are unsure about the adjustment, do not guess at further corrections.
When to stop and ask for help
If other calendar settings are wrong, you are uncertain about the procedure, or the display does not respond as expected, contact Vacheron Constantin’s Concierge or arrange a boutique appointment. The manufacturer’s cited manual explicitly recommends seeking help when perpetual-calendar settings are incorrect or the owner is unsure how to perform adjustments properly.

Yes. A separate Vacheron Constantin guide says its precision moon phase needs correction once every 122 years, compared with every three years for a simple moon phase. That interval belongs to the watch covered by that guide; the cited Overseas setting instructions do not state a correction interval. Do not use the 122-year figure as a maintenance schedule for an Overseas reference unless its matching documentation confirms it.
#1 Best Overall
- Selected calf leather, leather shoes feel soft and comfortable, and the body of the watch as one!
- The bottom leather is comfortable, soft, breathable, waterproof and sweatproof, which can effectively resist the erosion of sweat and prevent odour.
- The clasp is made of 316 stainless steel, polished meticulously and stable without fading.
- Please measure the lug width before ordering, the lug width must be exactly the same as the selected strap width to ensure accurate wearing.
- A set of matching spring bars and installation tools are included.
The same separate guide says its perpetual calendar is designed to run without adjustment until 28 February 2100, provided the watch is wound regularly and does not stop. That claim is also specific to the guide’s watch, not a general guarantee for every Overseas perpetual calendar.
