On a Seiko Cocktail Time GMT with the 4R34 movement, leave the main hour and minute hands set to your primary time zone, then pull the crown to its first click and turn it clockwise to set the 24-hour hand to the second region’s local time. Read that hand against the 24-hour scale. Check the region’s current UTC offset and daylight-saving status first; its calendar date may differ from the date shown for your primary region.
What the 24-hour hand shows
The official Seiko page for the HCB006 Presage Cocktail Time GMT specifies caliber 4R34 and a “24-hour hand (dual time display function)” (Seiko HCB006 product page). Seiko’s 4R34 instructions explain that the hand can either indicate AM or PM for the time shown by the main hands, or display the time in another region.

For dual-time use, the main hour and minute hands continue to show your primary region, while the 24-hour hand shows the second region. The manual illustrates both Japan-on-main-hands with Honolulu on the 24-hour hand, and the reverse. Depending on the regions, the second-zone time can fall on a different calendar day.

Set the 24-hour hand to a second time zone
- Check the second region’s current local time. Confirm its current UTC offset and whether daylight saving time is in effect using a current time-zone reference. Do not assume a fixed offset from memory.
- Keep the main hands on your primary region. The 24-hour hand will be the one representing the second region.
- Pull the crown to the first click. The 4R34 instructions state that the seconds hand continues moving in this position.
- Turn the crown clockwise. Continue until the 24-hour hand indicates the second region’s current time.
- Push the crown back to its normal position. Confirm the second-zone hour and that the displayed date remains correct for the primary region.
Read the 24-hour scale and calendar date
Read the hand as a 24-hour time, not as a second ordinary 12-hour hour hand: values from 13 through 24 represent afternoon and evening. For example, a reading of 18 means 6 p.m. in the region assigned to the 24-hour hand.

The date window belongs to the watch’s calendar setting; it does not provide a separate date display for the second region. Near midnight, the second region can be a calendar day ahead of or behind your primary region, so interpret the 24-hour reading with that time difference in mind.
Choose between AM/PM indication and dual-time display

These are the two uses described in Seiko’s 4R34 instructions. If you set the hand to a second region, it is showing that region’s time rather than acting solely as an AM/PM indicator.

Date-setting cautions
The first crown click is also used to adjust the date. Seiko warns: “Do not set the date between 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.” The manual says adjusting it during that window may prevent the date from changing correctly the following day. If the date needs correction, follow the 4R34 instructions and make the adjustment outside that window.
Seiko also notes that an incorrect AM/PM setting when setting the main time can cause the date to change at noon instead of midnight. This is separate from setting the 24-hour hand for a second region.

Confirm your watch’s movement
The HCB006 product page identifies caliber 4R34, but the cited material does not establish that every Cocktail Time GMT reference uses that movement. Check your watch’s exact reference and movement before following these steps; use the instructions for its caliber if it differs.
