It is a strong buy for Android users who do not need a large app ecosystem, and a reasonable iPhone companion if notifications, workouts, and battery life matter more than music, payments, or deep integration.
The square design is practical, readable, slim, and comfortable, but the Watch Fit 3 is not a full Apple Watch or Wear OS replacement. Its hardware is more convincing than its software ecosystem, and regional differences in NFC, payments, music, voice assistance, availability, and warranty support can matter more than the specification sheet suggests.

| Phone support | Android 8.0 or later, HarmonyOS 2 or later, and iOS 13.0 or later |
Reasons to buy
- Light, comfortable design with a large and sharp AMOLED display
- Long battery life compared with many full-featured smartwatches
- Built-in GPS and strong general workout heart-rate performance
- More than 100 workout modes and useful training features
- Works with both Android phones and iPhones
Reasons to be cautious
- HarmonyOS does not offer the third-party app breadth of watchOS or Wear OS
- NFC and practical contactless payments depend heavily on region and variant
- Single-band GPS is less reassuring for dense-city running than dual-band GPS
- Sleep tracking is useful for trends but inconsistent in independent testing
- iPhone users lose local music support and some Huawei-specific features
Design: familiar, light, and deliberately square
The Watch Fit 3 follows the practical square-watch formula rather than attempting a traditional round watch appearance. That makes it visually close to the Apple Watch, which is both its most obvious design criticism and part of its appeal. The shape gives notifications, widgets, workout screens, and watch faces plenty of horizontal room, while the rotating crown makes the watch feel more like a conventional smartwatch than a basic fitness band.
Huawei lists a 43.2 × 36.3 × 9.9 mm aluminum-alloy body weighing approximately 26 g without the strap. That low weight is one of the Fit 3’s best everyday qualities. Wareable was particularly positive about the comfort of the 26 g body and found that the nylon strap could be adjusted securely without becoming intrusive during exercise or sleep.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The case is slim enough to disappear under a sleeve, and the crown is more useful than a screen-only control system when you are looking at workout data or moving through menus. The trade-off is that this is a lightweight lifestyle watch, not a heavily protected outdoor instrument. People who frequently knock their wrists against hard surfaces should think about basic screen protection.
#1 Best Overall
- Vibrant 1.6” AMOLED Display – Large, high-res screen with smooth touch for easy navigation
- 5ATM & IP68 Water Resistance – Swim-ready and dust-resistant for active lifestyles
- Up to 14 Days Battery Life – Powerful 208mAh battery for long-lasting performance
- 101+ Workout Modes with Auto Detection – Automatically tracks common workouts for seamless fitness tracking. Advanced Health Tracking – Includes sleep coaching, SpO2, heart rate, and snore detection
- International Model No Warranty in the US. ONLY compatible with Android devices. Samsung Pay - Not Supported. NOT compatible with iPhone or iOS devices.
The watch uses replaceable quick-release straps. If the original fit or material is not right, a Huawei Watch Fit 3 replacement band is a sensible upgrade; check the connector and listing details because third-party quality varies.
Display: one of the clear strengths
The 1.82-inch AMOLED display is bright, sharp, and large enough to make the square case worthwhile. Its 480 × 408-pixel resolution and approximately 347 ppi density provide clean text and easily readable workout metrics without making the watch feel bulky. Reviews generally found the panel responsive and visually strong for its price class.
An always-on display option is available, but it changes the battery calculation substantially. Huawei’s published testing rates the watch for up to seven days under a heavier-use profile and up to four days with always-on display enabled. That is still respectable, but buyers who expect a permanently visible watch face should not plan around the headline 10-day figure.
Fitness tracking and GPS
Fitness is where the Watch Fit 3 makes its strongest case. It has built-in GPS and more than 100 workout modes, including running, walking, cycling, swimming, strength training, track running, football, and padel. It also includes guided warm-ups and stretching, training plans, recovery information, training-load measurements, and a running-ability index. Availability of individual features can depend on the software version, phone, and region.
GPS accuracy is good, with one important limitation
For ordinary outdoor running, walking, and cycling, the GPS performance is broadly convincing. Wareable compared the Fit 3 with an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Garmin Fenix 7S and reported excellent distance accuracy. In separate testing, Expert Reviews found a 7 km run that differed from a Stryd pod by only 0.14%, while walking results were approximately 1.3% different from a Garmin Forerunner 955.
Those are useful independent results, but they are individual tests rather than a guarantee for every route, weather condition, or firmware version. The Fit 3 uses single-band GNSS rather than dual-band GNSS. In plain terms, it does not have the same multi-frequency positioning advantage found in more advanced running watches.
Tech Advisor found that distance and average pace could be close to a dedicated running watch on some outings, although the Fit 3 slightly over-reported distance on others. T3 also noted slower GPS acquisition and warned that dense urban environments could expose weaknesses that were less obvious in countryside testing.
The sensible conclusion is that GPS is very good for recreational runners, walkers, and cyclists. If you regularly run between tall buildings, need highly reliable routes for structured training, or care about the smallest pace and distance differences, a dual-band sports watch is the safer choice.

Heart-rate tracking is a strong point
Heart-rate performance is one of the more encouraging parts of the Fit 3. Wareable reported close correspondence with a Garmin HRM-Pro chest strap during a hill run, with average and peak differences of about 1 beat per minute. Expert Reviews found an average difference of 3.2% against a Polar H10 across several activities. Tech Advisor also considered workout heart-rate tracking generally solid at easy-to-moderate intensity.
That supports a positive assessment for general exercise, calorie estimates, and everyday training feedback. It does not turn the watch into a medical instrument, and it should not be treated as proof that every reading will be accurate during every interval, sport, skin type, or wrist position.
Health tracking: broad, but not diagnostic
The Watch Fit 3 covers the main wellness functions expected from a modern fitness watch. It can monitor heart rate, take blood-oxygen readings, track sleep with Huawei’s TruSleep 4.0 system, estimate stress, provide breathing exercises, support menstrual-cycle tracking, and offer pulse-wave-arrhythmia analysis in compatible configurations.
Huawei’s compatibility documentation makes clear that feature availability can differ by operating system and region. More importantly, this is not Huawei’s high-end health device. Wareable notes that the Fit 3 lacks ECG, respiratory checking, arterial-stiffness measurement, and other advanced functions found on some more expensive Huawei watches.
Use the health features to identify trends and decide when to adjust routines. Do not use them to diagnose a condition or replace professional medical advice. A notification about an irregular rhythm, an unusual SpO2 reading, or a change in sleep should be treated as a reason to investigate appropriately, not as a clinical result.
Sleep tracking is useful but not consistently precise
Sleep is the least settled part of the Fit 3’s review record. Wareable found that the watch could substantially under-record sleep during travel and often reported longer sleep than Oura and Whoop in bed-based comparisons. Expert Reviews also described the sleep results as somewhat inaccurate.
T3 reached a more favorable conclusion in its own testing, finding the Fit 3 broadly aligned with a Garmin Forerunner 965 and Ultrahuman Ring Air. The mixed evidence matters: the watch may be perfectly useful for spotting broad changes in bedtime, wake time, or routine, but it is not the device to buy if you need consistently dependable sleep duration or sleep-stage measurement.

Battery life and charging
Battery life is a major advantage. Huawei’s official laboratory figures are:
- Up to 10 days: a light-use test profile.
- Up to seven days: a heavier profile including exercise, notifications, sleep, stress, and automatic SpO2.
- Up to four days: with the always-on display enabled.
These are maximum figures, and Huawei states that actual results vary with settings and usage. Independent reviews broadly support the overall message: Tech Advisor observed roughly a week in normal use, with heavier workout tracking reducing the result, while T3 achieved more than a week with battery remaining. That makes the Fit 3 much less demanding than many full-featured smartwatches that need daily charging.
Tech Advisor reported that a 10-minute charge could provide approximately a day of use and that a full charge took about an hour. Those figures are useful for recovery from a forgotten charge, but charging performance can vary with the power source, cable, battery condition, and software.
Because the charger uses proprietary magnetic pins, a Huawei Watch Fit 3 charging cable is a practical spare for travel or the office. Verify the exact connector layout and model compatibility rather than assuming a generic multi-watch dock will work.

The Fit 3 handles the basics well. It can show phone notifications, make or answer calls over Bluetooth, control music, display weather information, set alarms and timers, provide watch faces, and offer remote-camera functions in supported phone combinations.
The watch itself is relatively easy to navigate, helped by the crown and the large display. The weaker point is the surrounding software. The Huawei Health app is functional but busy, and Expert Reviews found it fiddly compared with rival platforms. The app is the place where you manage the watch, review health and exercise data, and change settings, so that friction matters more than it would on a simple tracker.
HarmonyOS is also not equivalent to watchOS or Wear OS. There is no comparable breadth of third-party applications, and the absence of an AppGallery storefront on the Fit 3 is a notable limitation. If your definition of a smartwatch includes installing a wide range of apps, using a mature payments ecosystem, or extending the watch with services from many developers, this is the wrong category of device.
Platform differences are real
| Function | Android and HarmonyOS | iPhone |
|---|---|---|
| Core notifications, workouts, heart rate, SpO2, sleep, and weather | Supported, subject to Huawei Health permissions and compatibility | Supported in the core feature set, with some differences |
| Local music | Supported on Android and HarmonyOS | Not supported according to Huawei’s compatibility table |
| Remote camera | Available on supported Huawei phones; restricted on other Android phones | Available with iOS |
| Voice assistant | Primarily limited to Huawei phones running compatible EMUI versions | Some Huawei-specific assistant features are unavailable |
| Third-party app ecosystem | Much narrower than Wear OS | Much narrower than watchOS |
| NFC and payments | Highly dependent on the regional model, variant, Huawei Pay availability, and local bank support | |
Android users generally get the fullest experience, while owners of compatible Huawei phones receive the deepest integration. iPhone users can use the watch successfully for notifications, exercise, health trends, and long battery life, but they should accept reduced music, assistant, and ecosystem functionality before buying.

NFC and payments: check the exact watch, not just the name
NFC is one of the easiest features to misunderstand. Huawei’s cited regional specifications list NFC support only for certain variants, including the white-leather and grey versions on that regional page. Independent reviews also note that Huawei Pay availability and practical contactless-payment support vary by market.
Do not assume that every Watch Fit 3 sold worldwide supports NFC, that an NFC-equipped variant can use Huawei Pay in your country, or that your bank will support the service. Before buying, verify the exact regional SKU, the color or configuration, the seller’s warranty, and the payment service available in your market. This is especially important for imported listings.
Water resistance and everyday durability
The Watch Fit 3 carries a 5 ATM water-resistance rating. Huawei describes that rating as suitable for shallow-water activities such as pool or ocean swimming. It is not an unrestricted waterproof guarantee: scuba diving, waterskiing, high-velocity water, and deep submersion are outside the stated use.
Rinse and dry the watch appropriately after swimming, and do not interpret a water-resistance rating as protection from every liquid, impact, or aging seal. The aluminum body keeps the watch light but does not make it a rugged outdoor model.

The aluminum body keeps the watch light, but it is not a rugged outdoor model. If your wrist regularly meets tools, door frames, or brush, a Huawei Watch Fit 3 screen protector may be worthwhile; treat it as optional protection, not a substitute for careful handling, and check the protector’s fit before buying.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Availability and value
The Watch Fit 3 launched internationally in 2024, but availability is not uniform. Tech Advisor reported review-time pricing of £139.99 in the UK and €159 in Europe, and noted that the watch had not officially gone on sale in the United States at that time.
Those figures should not be treated as a current universal price. Stock, promotions, regional models, import status, warranty coverage, and seller support can all change. In the United States especially, a listing may be an import rather than a locally supported product. Check the current price and return policy, confirm that the phone features you need work in your region, and do not infer payment or warranty support from the product name alone.
Who should buy the Huawei Watch Fit 3?
Buy it if you want:
- A light, square smartwatch with a bright, spacious display.
- Several days of battery life without giving up built-in GPS.
- Broad workout support for running, walking, cycling, swimming, strength work, and less common sports.
- Good general heart-rate tracking for recreational and moderate-intensity training.
- Notifications, Bluetooth calling, and basic smartwatch tools without paying for a large app ecosystem.
- An Android-compatible watch that also works with an iPhone, provided you accept platform limitations.
Choose something else if you need:
- Reliable contactless payments in a specific market, especially the United States, without checking regional support first.
- A deep third-party app ecosystem comparable with Apple Watch or Wear OS.
- Full iPhone music integration or broad voice-assistant support.
- Dual-band GPS for frequent dense-city running or highly demanding route analysis.
- ECG and other advanced health sensors.
- Consistently precise sleep-stage or total-sleep measurement.
A sensible pre-purchase checklist
- Check the phone: Confirm that your phone runs Android 8.0 or later, HarmonyOS 2 or later, or iOS 13.0 or later. If you use an iPhone, specifically check whether the missing music and assistant features matter to you.
- Check the region: Verify NFC, Huawei Pay, bank support, warranty, and the exact model variant rather than relying on a generic international listing.
- Check your GPS expectations: Recreational outdoor exercise is a good fit; demanding urban training favors a dual-band sports watch.
- Check your sleep expectations: Treat sleep results as trend data, not definitive measurement of stages or total sleep.
- Plan for charging: The magnetic-pin cable is proprietary. If you travel, a correctly matched spare is more useful than an incompatible universal dock.
- Plan for protection: The watch is light rather than rugged. A well-fitting protector can make sense for hands-on work or frequent impacts.
Final verdict
The Huawei Watch Fit 3 is hip to be square because the square design is genuinely useful: it creates a readable canvas, keeps the watch slim, and works well with notifications and workout data. But originality is not the reason to buy it. The real attraction is the combination of low weight, long battery life, built-in GPS, broad fitness coverage, and generally good heart-rate tracking.
Best Value

Its compromises are concentrated in the ecosystem. HarmonyOS is less flexible than watchOS or Wear OS, the Huawei Health app can feel busy, sleep tracking is not consistently precise, and regional differences can decide whether NFC, payments, music, or assistant features are useful at all. For an Android user who wants a comfortable fitness-first smartwatch, it is a persuasive value. For an iPhone owner or serious urban runner, it is worthwhile only after checking those limitations against your priorities.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Huawei Watch Fit 3 work with an iPhone?
Yes. Huawei lists iOS 13.0 or later as compatible. Core functions such as notifications, workouts, heart-rate monitoring, SpO2, sleep tracking, and weather are supported, but local music is unavailable on iOS and some assistant and Huawei-specific features are limited.
