Its defining features are a 45 mm polished Water Blue sapphire case and bezel, plus a hand-wound skeleton movement with seven series-coupled barrels and an approximately 14-day power reserve. The exact reference is 911.JL.0129.RX.
What is new about the Water Blue sapphire version?
Water Blue is the distinctive update: Hublot presented it as a new sapphire shade for the MP-11. In its 9 April 2024 announcement, the brand says it developed a custom chemical formula and transparency index over several years, using accelerated-ageing simulations and work to ensure water resistance. Hublot also describes sapphire polishing as a delicate operation usually carried out by hand. These are the manufacturer’s accounts of its material and production process, rather than an independent materials assessment. Read Hublot’s announcement.
Ricardo Guadalupe, identified in the release as Hublot’s CEO, framed the MP line as experimental: “Our MPs are a laboratory, an exploration of what the watchmaking of tomorrow might look like today.”
Case, water resistance and strap
- Reference: 911.JL.0129.RX.
- Case and bezel: polished Water Blue sapphire.
- Case diameter: 45 mm, according to Hublot’s 2024 specifications.
- Water resistance: 30 m or 3 ATM, as specified by Hublot. That rating alone does not establish suitability for swimming or diving; the announcement gives no activity guidance.
- Strap and buckle: transparent Water Blue lined structured rubber strap with a titanium deployant buckle.
How the HUB9011 movement works
The HUB9011 is a manual-winding skeleton movement. Its seven barrels are coupled in series, and the watch displays its power reserve using a rolling indicator. Hublot states an approximate power reserve of 336 hours, equivalent to 14 days. That is the manufacturer’s stated specification, not an independent measurement.
