What is the Seiko Presage SPB447?
SPB447, also identified on Seiko’s regional pages as SPB447J1, belongs to the Presage Classic Series Craftsmanship line. Its defining feature is a black dial made by hand with urushi lacquer, paired with a dual-time display. Seiko’s Singapore product page describes the dial as handcrafted; the UK product page explains its design and finishing.
Although the supplied title calls it a new release, the official pages reviewed establish its current product placement, not its original announcement date. Seiko’s September 12, 2023 Craftsmanship-series press release covered SPB403, SPB405 and SPB407, not SPB447, so that date should not be attributed to this watch.
What movement and GMT functions does it have?
The SPB447 uses Seiko Caliber 6R54, an automatic movement that can also be wound by hand. Seiko specifies approximately 72 hours of power reserve, a stop-seconds function and a 24-hour hand for dual-time display. The listed accuracy is +25 to −15 seconds per day; this is Seiko’s specification, not an independent test result.

The 24-hour hand and outer 24-hour layout use subdued gold accents against the black dial. White three-dimensional bar indexes and hour and minute hands provide contrast, while the seconds hand has a mirror finish, according to Seiko’s UK description.

These are specifications published on Seiko’s SPB447J1 page. The 20 mm lug width is a useful starting point when looking for a replacement strap, but width alone does not ensure that a strap’s shape, attachment or clasp interface will fit.

What is an urushi lacquer dial?
Urushi is a natural lacquer with a long history of use in Japanese craft. For this watch, Seiko says the dial-making process combines a method for joining metal and lacquer directly with traditional techniques. The lacquer must be applied thinly enough to avoid obstructing the hands while creating a smooth, lustrous surface.
Seiko says the work was carried out under the supervision of lacquer artist Isshu Tamura, whom it identifies as a Kanazawa lacquer artist born in 1957 and trained in the traditional Kaga Maki-e gold lacquer technique. Craftspeople applied and polished the lacquer dozens of times, according to the UK product description.

Handmade variation is expected
Seiko cautions that the handmade dial may show slight color differences or minute distortions, and says no two dials are exactly alike. These are disclosed characteristics of handcrafted urushi, not in themselves evidence of a defect. Buyers who want a completely uniform dial should inspect the specific watch where possible.
How much does the Seiko SPB447 cost?
Prices vary by market. Seiko’s US Presage Classic Series page listed the SPB447 at USD 1,750 on October 8, 2026. The Singapore product page showed SGD 2,398, while the UK page showed GBP 1,700. These are regional page listings, not a single worldwide price or a guaranteed transaction price; check Seiko or an authorized local retailer for current availability and pricing.
