It changes the rate of the watch’s display—not physical time. Hublot made this 2015 limited edition in 20 pieces.
How does the Hublot MP-12 Key of Time work?
The MP-12 has two crowns with different jobs. The crown at 3 o’clock sets the time and winds the manual movement; the crown at 9 o’clock selects the display rate. The mechanism offers normal time, a four-times-faster display and a four-times-slower display. A mechanical memory lets the wearer return the hands to real time. The crown functions and mode behavior are described by GPHG and Professional Watches.

These modes alter the pace represented by the hands, not the passage of time itself. The watch’s seconds display is associated with a vertical flying tourbillon, while the hours and minutes are shown in concentric circles. Red indicators identify the selected speed mode, and a separate indication shows power reserve, according to the GPHG description.
What movement powers the MP-12?
The manual-winding HUB 9012 is a skeleton movement with a reported 120-hour power reserve. The GPHG description counts 512 components and notes a sapphire dial that leaves the movement visible. Professional Watches also reports the 120-hour reserve. These are product specifications, not independent measures of accuracy or performance.

How does it fit into the Key of Time line?
The MP-12 is part of a concept Hublot introduced with the MP-02 Key of Time in 2011. The GPHG identifies that earlier watch as using calibre HUB 9002; the MP-12, launched in 2015, uses HUB 9012 and presents the movement through a skeletonized design. Le Point also dates the MP-02 to 2011 and the MP-12 Skeleton to 2015 (Le Point, January 1, 2021).
Case, strap and wearability
The GPHG lists a black PVD-coated titanium case measuring 53 x 51 mm and 23.15 mm thick, with 30 m water resistance. Professional Watches independently reports those same dimensions and resistance, describing the micro-blasted black PVD titanium as matte. The dimensions make this a notably large, thick watch on paper; the available specifications do not establish how it wears on different wrists.

The strap is rubber with a black composite insert, according to the GPHG record. Its water-resistance rating is a specification, not evidence that the watch is suited to swimming or other water activities.

The GPHG record and Professional Watches report agree on the principal case dimensions and water resistance. A 2021 Le Point caption gives materially different dimensions—40.20 x 40.10 mm and 9.30 mm—which conflict with both of those records. The GPHG’s dedicated watch record and the corroborating Professional Watches figures are the better-supported specifications to use; the conflicting caption does not establish an alternative case size.
