The Hublot MP-13 Tourbillon Bi-Axis Retrograde Black Carbon is a 44 mm, hand-wound limited-edition watch built around two conspicuous complications: a double-axis tourbillon and a dual retrograde time display. Reference 913.YT.1170.RX pairs a carbon-fiber case and bezel with a black Texalium upper layer; Hublot lists only 50 pieces. Here is what its construction and mechanism do—and what the specifications do not establish.
What is the MP-13 Black Carbon?
It is the Black Carbon version of Hublot’s MP-13, a technical, open-worked watch whose display and tourbillon are intended to be seen together. The exact reference is 913.YT.1170.RX. Hublot’s current product listing specifies a 44 mm case and a limited edition of 50 pieces.
That reference matters: the 2023 MP-13 launch material concerns the titanium version, reference 913.NX.1170.RX. Its case material and launch-market pricing are not specifications or prices for this Black Carbon watch.
How do the tourbillon and retrograde display work?
Double-axis tourbillon
A tourbillon places the regulating components—the balance and escapement—inside a rotating cage. In a double-axis design, that assembly rotates on two axes. Hublot positions the mechanism visibly at six o’clock, where the large opening in the dial and crystal area makes it a focal point.

A tourbillon is a mechanical feature, not a guarantee of superior everyday accuracy. The specifications here describe the mechanism but do not establish a comparative accuracy result.
Dual retrograde time display
Rather than making a full circle, a retrograde hand travels along an arc and returns to its starting point when it reaches the end of its scale. The MP-13 uses retrograde indications for both hours and minutes. webChronos interprets the arrangement as a way to appreciate the tourbillon through the opening; that is a design reading, not a measured functional advantage.

Movement and setting
The HUB6200 is a manual-winding movement with a stated 96-hour power reserve, according to Hublot’s current product page. In other words, the maker lists up to four days of reserve when fully wound; that figure is a specification, not a guarantee that every watch will run for exactly that duration under every condition. webChronos additionally reports 44 jewels and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour; Hublot’s current listing does not show those two details.
The setting sequence has an important constraint. The Fondation Haute Horlogerie says that advancing the minutes hand automatically moves the hours hand forward, and that the hands can only be set forward. Follow the maker’s setting guidance and do not force the hands backward.

Case, dial, strap and water resistance
- Case and bezel: carbon fiber with a black Texalium upper layer.
- Dial and crystal: matte black dial and anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
- Strap and clasp: black structured lined rubber strap with a black ceramic and black-plated titanium deployant clasp.
- Water resistance: Hublot lists 30 m / 3 ATM. This rating should not be read as confirmation that the watch is suitable for swimming or diving.
How limited is it, and what does it cost?
Hublot lists the Black Carbon reference as a 50-piece limited edition. Its official regional listings give different local prices, each including the stated local VAT:

What Hublot says is made in-house
In its official video description dated 2024-04-14, Hublot says the double-axis tourbillon and dual retrograde display are “all 100% manufactured in-house.” That is the manufacturer’s claim; it is not independent verification of component sourcing.
Who is this watch for?
The MP-13 Black Carbon is most clearly defined by its mechanism-led design: a conspicuous double-axis tourbillon, two retrograde indications, carbon-fiber construction and a small stated edition. The cited specifications provide no basis for treating it as a sport watch or for claiming a practical accuracy advantage from its tourbillon. Its 30 m / 3 ATM rating also sets a clear limit on what can be inferred about water use.
