The 42 mm titanium model keeps the collection’s bold skeleton design while, in reviewer Andy Green’s view, making it more approachable than the 45 mm size used previously. Its display combines a large date, moonphase and small seconds.
What does the Spirit of Big Bang Moonphase display?
Hublot describes the HUB1770 as an entirely skeletonized, self-winding movement. On the Moonphase layout, the large date sits at 2 o’clock, the moonphase appears in a window at 6 o’clock, and the small seconds are at 9 o’clock. Hublot says the date is indicated by two discs. These are the manufacturer’s stated functions; the reviewed article does not report a timing test or other independent movement testing. Hublot’s HUB1770 description is on the page for the distinct Impact Sapphire 42 mm reference.
What is the titanium 42 mm version like?
Andy Green’s Time+Tide hands-on article, published 1 June 2016, covers titanium reference 647.NX.1137.RX. Green describes its matte grey titanium palette, red minute markers, skeletonized dial and rubber strap as a more subtle take on the Spirit of Big Bang’s sporty character. He considers the 42 mm case more approachable than the 45 mm size used previously. Those are the reviewer’s design and wearability impressions, not claims of personal testing by this article’s author.
For this titanium reference, the 2016 review gives a 50-hour power reserve and 100 m water resistance. Those figures belong to the reviewed 647.NX.1137.RX; they should not be assumed for every Moonphase or Spirit of Big Bang model. The article also recorded a historical Australian price of $24,300 in 2016, which is not a current price guide.

How do the Moonphase references differ?
The similar names and shared movement family do not make these interchangeable watches. Case material, water resistance and listing status are reference-specific.

Hublot’s Impact Sapphire listing is a useful reminder that even a 42 mm Spirit of Big Bang with HUB1770 can have a different water-resistance rating. Its 50 m figure does not apply to the titanium or King Gold Moonphase references.

What should owners know about winding and setting?
Hublot’s general Spirit of Big Bang manual explains that self-winding stores energy generated by arm movement. It says to screw the crown fully back in after operation to help protect water resistance and advises against correcting the date between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., when the calendar disc is engaged. The manual’s diagrams and instructions focus primarily on a chronograph layout, so they do not establish every Moonphase-specific adjustment procedure. Use the correct manual or ask Hublot service before making an unfamiliar setting change.

The titanium 647.NX.1137.RX is the version to consider if the appeal is the Moonphase display in a lighter-looking grey titanium case with a rubber strap. The review’s central point is proportion: at 42 mm, it preserves the collection’s angular, sporty visual identity while reducing the case size from the 45 mm version discussed by Green. Readers considering the King Gold model should treat it as a separate reference rather than assuming the titanium review’s water resistance, impressions or availability apply to it.
