Its launch-era specification was an eight-piece edition priced at CHF 335,000 excluding taxes. Those figures describe the 2023 launch, not verified current availability or a current asking price.
What makes the Black Eklipse distinctive?
Rather than relying on a conventional dial layout, the Black Eklipse places its time display and a highly visible mechanical animation across a large, sculptural case. HYT’s 701-TC calibre drives the fluidic hour indication and the conical tourbillon, while three peripheral spheres add another layer of motion. The result is a watch whose appeal is as much about watching its mechanisms move as reading the time.
The original reference is H02759-A, named Black Eklipse. HYT specified a carbon case with black DLC-coated titanium, a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a black rubber strap with green stitching. The dimensions are 48.00 mm wide, 52.30 mm long and 25.15 mm thick. HYT rated this reference to 50 m water resistance. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. HYT’s 2023 launch press release and Rebecca Doulton’s contemporaneous Monochrome Watches feature describe the launch watch and its design.
How does the HYT Conical Tourbillon tell time?
Hours: a retrograde fluid display
Hours appear along a glass capillary that follows the dial’s perimeter. Two immiscible fluids meet inside it; the visible boundary between them marks the current hour. As the indication reaches the end of its cycle, the fluid returns to its starting point. HYT calls this its fluidic display system. The sources describing the watch explain how it indicates hours but do not establish independent durability or accuracy results for the system.

Minutes: a central hand
A conventional central hand indicates minutes. The contrast is deliberate: the minutes are read from a familiar hand, while the hours are shown by the moving fluid boundary around the edge.
What makes the tourbillon conical?
A conventional tourbillon is commonly presented in a rotating cage; here, the balance and escapement are arranged at different inclinations, creating the conical appearance. HYT says the spring balance is inclined 30 degrees to the horizontal, the escape wheel 15 degrees and the pallet 23 degrees. The cage completes one clockwise revolution every 30 seconds. HYT attributes the concept’s inspiration to Walter Prendel’s 1928 inclined balance tourbillon.

The cage itself comprises 159 components, according to HYT. The brand presents the angled arrangement as a way to improve stability and performance, but the launch materials and contemporaneous coverage do not provide independent chronometric tests or accuracy data. Treat that performance explanation as HYT’s claim rather than a verified test result.
What are the three rotating spheres for?
Three glass spheres sit around the tourbillon and rotate clockwise at different speeds: one completes four turns per minute, another five, and the third six. HYT calls their motion “chaotic animation” and says it demonstrates stability. That is the manufacturer’s interpretation of the display; no independent validation of the claimed result is established in the launch coverage.

Movement and winding
The manually wound calibre 701-TC was developed with master watchmaker Eric Coudray. HYT lists 533 components, 61 jewels, a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and a 40-hour power reserve. A winding tool is supplied. The figures are manufacturer specifications. HYT counts 750 components for the complete watch: 533 in the movement, 39 in the dial and 66 in the case, with the remaining components included in the overall total as stated in its launch materials.

HYT announced the Black Eklipse as an edition of eight with a suggested launch price of CHF 335,000 excluding taxes. These are 2023 launch details; they do not establish the watch’s present resale value, current stock or availability.

It shares the 701-TC calibre, the 48.00 × 52.30 × 25.15 mm dimensions, the 40-hour reserve and the three sphere speeds with the Black Eklipse. HYT provides enquiry and boutique routes on its family page, but those routes do not confirm stock of the Black Eklipse reference. Anyone seeking the original should ask HYT or a specialist seller to confirm the exact reference and its availability.
