The HYT H1 Red2 tells the hour with a moving red liquid rather than a conventional hour hand. Its unusual fluid display, hand-wound mechanics and large titanium-and-pink-gold case make it a distinctive 2014 limited-edition watch—and a substantial, visually bold one. The €59,000 price reported at launch is historical, not a current offer or valuation.
How the HYT H1 Red2 tells time
A fluorescent red, water-based liquid moves through a capillary beside a separate transparent, viscous fluid. The boundary between them—the meniscus—indicates the hour as the red liquid advances. At the end of its scale, the indication returns retrograde to begin again; there is no conventional hour hand doing this job.

The display is driven mechanically. Pistons compress and expand bellows or reservoirs, moving the fluids through the capillary. The result is a coupled fluidic and mechanical complication, while the dial’s regulator minutes, small seconds and power-reserve indicator provide the other time and movement information.

What the 2014 review says about wearing it
Brice Goulard’s hands-on review, published on 29 July 2014, describes a watch that takes some adjustment to read but becomes legible, including at night thanks to luminous indexes and hands. He found his example large and heavy, at around 150 g, and said the integrated strap helped balance it. Those observations belong to his 2014 example; they are not a guarantee of the weight or fit of every configuration.
Goulard praised the technology, finishing and distinctive design, while identifying the size and extreme styling as drawbacks. At 48.8 mm across and about 17.9 mm thick, the Red2 is likely to suit someone seeking a conspicuous, substantial watch more than someone prioritizing compact proportions. The same unusual display that makes it stand apart also asks the wearer to interpret a fluid boundary rather than glance at a familiar hour hand.

The 2014 Monochrome-Watches review reported a price of €59,000 for the two-tone Red2 example. That is a period price only: it does not establish today’s retail price, pre-owned value or availability. EuropaStar identifies the model as a 2014 limited series of 50 pieces.
A specialist retailer page lists reference 148-TG-02-RF-RU, but a product listing alone does not establish current stock, seller authorization or the authenticity of any particular watch. Current inventory, market value and service support have not been established here. Anyone considering a pre-owned example should verify its reference, condition, provenance and service documentation directly with the seller or a qualified watch specialist.
Long-term ownership questions
The 2014 review raised a question about how the liquids might age, including whether their color, separation behavior or fluidity could change. That was an open question, not a report of a documented failure. The published material cited here does not establish how the fluid system performs over the long term or provide current service guidance, so buyers should seek model-specific answers from a qualified service source before purchasing.
