Its most unusual feature is the hour display: colored liquid moves through a capillary, with the boundary between colored and transparent fluids marking the present. The watch was offered in stainless steel and 18K yellow gold, with 20 pieces in each material.
What is the HYT H20 “Time Is Fluid”?
The H20 “Time Is Fluid” is a 2019 edition of HYT’s H2.0 design, built around a three-dimensional, open-looking architecture beneath a large domed sapphire crystal. HYT’s timeline describes the H2.0, introduced in 2018, as a transparent, three-dimensional design. The 2019 edition places the words “TIME IS FLUID” around the dial in place of the earlier side numerals, making the watch’s central idea part of how its hours are read.
HYT Vice President & Creative Director François Nunez described the design aim this way: “With the H20 ‘Time is Fluid’, we wanted to capture some sort of tension between a modern expression and a timeless feel.” In the same launch article, he added: “At HYT, we sit at the crossroads between art and science. It is important for such a key SIHH novelty to visualize both the craftsmanship and the cutting-edge technology that goes into our watches,” he continued.
How does the liquid hour display work?
HYT describes a system in which two flexible reservoirs, or bellows, connect to a capillary. One reservoir holds colored fluid and the other transparent fluid; as the mechanism operates, the fluids move through the capillary. The colored fluid indicates the elapsed hours, while the meniscus—the boundary between the two liquids—marks the current hour. HYT assigns the colored liquid to the recent past and the transparent liquid to the forthcoming future, framing the boundary as the present.

- Stainless Steel case with Black Resin Band
- Black Dial with date window at 3 O'clock
- Luminous markers and hour hands; sweep second hand
- Anti-reverse bezel
- Water-resistant to 200 M (660 feet)
This is a mechanical time display, not a conventional hour hand: the advancing liquid traces the hours around the dial. Minutes are shown separately on an off-centred display, with a small-seconds indication as well. A launch-era hands-on report also describes a crown-position indicator for time-setting, neutral, and winding modes.

Case, movement and wearing considerations
The sapphire front and back leave the H20’s complex construction on display, while the hand-wound movement was developed with APRP. Its stated 192-hour reserve corresponds to eight days between full windings under the specification reported at launch. The translucent grey rubber strap and titanium folding buckle complete both reported material variants.
A 30 m water-resistance rating is a specification, not a recommendation for swimming or other water use. Consult the watch’s current documentation and a qualified service provider for practical care guidance; present-day service arrangements are not established in the launch sources.
