Verdict: The INMO Air3 is one of the most ambitious standalone AR glasses available: it combines a full-color binocular display, Android-style apps, onboard storage, a camera, speakers, touch controls and optional spatial input in one frame. That makes it more capable than display-only glasses, but also heavier, more expensive and more dependent on software and battery management. It is best for early adopters who specifically want portable full-color AR—not for buyers seeking ordinary lightweight glasses or a simple plug-and-play monitor.
INMO’s direct-store listing showed a price of $1,099 on August 18, 2026. The ring controller is sold separately, and prescription options may add to the cost.

What is the INMO Air3?
The INMO Air3 is a pair of all-in-one, full-color augmented-reality glasses. Unlike display-only glasses, which generally rely on a phone, laptop, handheld console or external processing unit, the Air3 includes its own processor, memory, storage, battery, camera and Android-style software environment.

That does not make it a complete smartphone or laptop replacement. Small interface elements, touch input, app compatibility, network requirements, battery life and comfort remain important limitations. INMO also describes the Air3 as supporting more than 90% of Android applications, but successful installation does not guarantee that an app will be comfortable or fully functional on a glasses-sized interface.

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent laboratory measurements. The claimed “150-inch” cinematic experience describes an equivalent virtual viewing experience, not a physically measured screen.
Display and practical visibility
The Air3’s strongest hardware feature is its binocular full-color waveguide display. The 1920×1080 resolution, 36-degree field of view and claimed 120Hz mode should make it substantially more versatile than monochrome notification or caption glasses.
Specifications alone do not establish how usable the image is. Waveguide glasses can vary in edge clarity, eyebox, contrast and stability depending on fit and eye position. A serious evaluation should check text in the center and edges, small desktop controls, dark scenes, bright outdoor scenes, motion at 60Hz and 120Hz, and whether the image remains usable while walking.
The “up to 600 nits” brightness claim should not be treated as proof of comfortable direct-sunlight visibility. The included sunglasses clip may help outdoors, but it can also change the appearance of the image and the overall balance of the frame. Privacy shielding can reduce what other people see in the display; it does not provide physical privacy, and it does not make camera recording invisible.
Design, weight and prescription support
Comfort is a major question because the Air3 puts considerably more electronics into the frame than ordinary smart glasses. A secondary review lists the Air3 at approximately 119g, but that figure should be confirmed against the final retail specification.

At this weight, nose pressure, temple pressure and front-to-rear balance matter more than headline dimensions. Short film sessions may be comfortable while extended work, walking or commuting may expose fatigue or heat. Buyers should also consider compatibility with hats, headphones and helmets.

One user report describes inserts positioned behind the waveguide lens and notes additional reflections; that is anecdotal and may not apply to every prescription. Confirm lens type, pupillary-distance requirements, progressive-lens compatibility and return terms before ordering.
Standalone software and controls
The Air3’s standalone design is its main reason to exist. With onboard processing, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, it can run Android-style applications and store media without treating the glasses as merely an external monitor.
In practice, “standalone” has boundaries. Some functions require Wi-Fi, cloud services, a phone or an account. Android apps may assume a touchscreen, phone-sized display, GPS, Google Play certification or camera permissions that do not behave as expected on the Air3. Apps can install successfully yet remain awkward in portrait mode, difficult to control or unable to use the glasses’ camera and sensors.
Input methods
- Temple touch: Useful for basic navigation, but less precise than a phone for settings, typing and complex interfaces.
- Included touchpad: The current direct-store listing includes a touchpad. It should improve pointer control and scrolling, although pairing reliability and one-handed accuracy are important practical tests.
- Optional ring: The Air3 Ring Control is listed separately at $159. Promotional emphasis on spatial control should not be mistaken for inclusion in the standard package.
INMO’s accessories page also lists a touchpad at $99 and prescription lens options at $159. Prices and inclusion can change, so check the checkout page rather than relying on older reviews.
Screen mirroring and productivity
The Air3 can function as a private personal display, but its mirroring workflow is not completely device-independent. INMO’s screen-mirroring guide says the glasses and source device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

- Open the screen-mirroring function on the glasses.
- Leave the glasses on the discovery screen.
- Connect the phone, tablet or computer and the Air3 to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Start Screen Mirroring or Screen Cast on the source device.
- Select the discovered INMO Air3.
- End the session from the source device or the glasses.
Menu labels can vary by firmware and platform. INMO separately documents casting from Windows and Mac. Hotel Wi-Fi, captive portals, office network restrictions and networks that isolate devices may prevent discovery even when both devices appear connected.
For remote work, the key questions are text clarity, casting latency, pointer visibility, keyboard and mouse support, multi-screen behavior and heat over time. The Air3 may provide a useful private display for a laptop or phone, but it does not automatically offer the peripheral vision, physical ergonomics or input quality of a conventional monitor.
Camera, audio and recording
The Air3 has a 120-degree ultra-wide camera intended for first-person photography and video. INMO lists electronic image stabilization and camera controls such as exposure, orientation and video-quality options.

Dynamic range, low-light performance, stabilization, audio, compression and file transfer matter just as much. Expect the most useful results in good light, and check footage from walking, indoor, backlit and noisy environments before treating the Air3 as a serious content-creation camera.
Also check microphone quality, speaker loudness, sound leakage, call performance, storage transfer and the recording indicator. A camera-equipped wearable may be prohibited in workplaces, museums, schools, hospitals and other venues even when recording is technically possible.
AI, translation and the “personal AI agent” claim
INMO presents an AI-agent development platform based on the open-source n8n project. That sounds more like a customizable workflow ecosystem than one universally available assistant with identical features in every region.

Before buying, verify the available assistant, language support, account requirements, subscription or API costs, cloud dependence, data retention and offline behavior. Determine whether the AI can access the built-in camera directly or whether you must manually take a photograph first.

One independent tester reported camera-access friction, interruptions during AI queries and a workflow in which the user had to open the camera and capture an image for some visual questions. That is useful failure-mode evidence, but it is one tester’s experience rather than a universal performance result.
Battery life and thermals
INMO lists a 660mAh battery and up to seven hours of standby time. Standby is not equivalent to continuous video playback, screen mirroring, camera recording, navigation or AI use.
Active runtime will vary with brightness, refresh rate, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera use and performance settings. A credible test should report separate results for video, mirroring, recording, AI queries and idle standby, along with recharge time, sleep drain and whether the glasses can be powered by a power bank while worn.
A third-party comparison ranked the Air3 relatively poorly for battery life, but did not provide a standardized numerical result in the available material. Treat that ranking as directional rather than definitive. The same caution applies to claims of all-day use: they should not be accepted without mixed-use measurements.
Gaming and entertainment
INMO’s support center includes guides for Xbox streaming, PS5 Remote Play, multi-screen mode and 3D video. The glasses may therefore appeal to users who want a private cinema screen or portable game display.

Test Bluetooth controllers, streaming latency, audio synchronization, motion comfort, 3D formats and long-session heat. A large virtual screen is not automatically immersive spatial AR. The important distinction is whether content is genuinely stereoscopic, anchored in the environment, fixed relative to the wearer or simply presented as a large floating screen.
Connectivity and support
Setup is likely to involve Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, permissions, storage management, firmware updates and possibly a companion phone. INMO provides documentation for Bluetooth settings, file management, firmware, location, voice assistant setup, sensor calibration and reset procedures through its support center.
Before purchase, check whether the required phone app works in your region, whether Google Play is available and functional, how a factory reset affects accounts and apps, and what recovery options exist after failed pairing or a failed update. Firmware can also change menu names and feature behavior, so reviews should record the firmware version and test date.

Privacy and safe use
- Tell people when you are recording and respect venue-specific camera restrictions.
- Do not assume the recording indicator makes every use socially or legally acceptable.
- Expect some sound leakage from open speakers.
- Do not interact with the display while driving; follow local law and prioritize road safety.
- Stop using the glasses if they cause significant eye strain, motion discomfort or headaches.

Price and total ownership cost
INMO’s direct-store listing showed the Air3 at $1,099 on August 18, 2026, with preparation estimated at 7–10 business days and another 7–10 business days after dispatch. The listing included the touchpad, sunglasses clip and polishing cloth. The ring was not included.
Budget separately for the $159 ring, $159 prescription options where applicable, shipping, taxes, replacement accessories, charging equipment and any AI subscription or third-party API costs. Confirm the return and warranty terms for your country, especially because prescription items may be non-returnable.
Who should buy the INMO Air3?
Buy it if you specifically want full-color binocular AR, onboard apps and storage, camera capture and an experimental wearable computer, and you are comfortable troubleshooting software and connectivity at a high price.
Wait or choose an alternative if you need light, ordinary-glasses comfort, reliable all-day active battery life, mature camera-aware AI, effortless phone calls and translation, broad prescription compatibility or a simple external monitor.
Alternatives by use case
- XREAL Air-series: Better suited to buyers who mainly want a lightweight virtual display connected to a phone, laptop or handheld.
- RayNeo X3 Pro: A closer standalone color AR competitor, though comparisons should use current specifications and hands-on testing.
- Rokid glasses: Worth considering for buyers prioritizing translation, AI or a lighter display experience, depending on model and region.
