Favre-Leuba’s 2024 return was built around a clear pairing: watches that draw on the brand’s history and new designs intended to make that heritage wearable today. In an interview published on 16 August 2024, CEO Patrik Hoffmann described how he joined the relaunch, the collections planned for Geneva Watch Days, and ambitions that were targets—not proof of later production or sales. The brand’s official catalogue and newsroom show a broader lineup and further announcements as of 8 October 2026.
How Patrik Hoffmann came to lead the relaunch
Hoffmann told Xavier Markl of Monochrome Watches that a group of investors interested in acquiring Favre-Leuba approached him because of his experience selling Ulysse Nardin and acquiring De Bethune. He said the initial proposal was for him to become chairman, but he became more involved in operations and took the CEO role. KDDL Limited’s 2023–2024 corporate reporting identifies KDDL as the company that acquired Favre-Leuba and says it planned a global launch of a new watch series in August 2024.
That distinction matters: Hoffmann recounted how he entered the project, while the corporate report identifies the acquiring company. Neither account establishes the brand’s ownership changes after the cited reporting period.
What Hoffmann said the 2024 relaunch would offer
For Geneva Watch Days 2024, Hoffmann said Favre-Leuba would present 22 references across three collections: Deep Blue, Sea Sky and Chief. He described three initial movements, made with La Joux-Perret, and said a tourbillon using a Chronode movement was planned for 2025. These were statements about the launch presentation and future plans at the time, not a current inventory or confirmation that every plan was completed.

| Deep Blue | Hoffmann dated the model to 1964 and said 2024 marked its 60th anniversary. | Part of the planned Geneva Watch Days presentation; the interview does not establish the present availability of a model under this collection name. |
| Sea Sky | Included in the relaunch lineup. | Part of the planned presentation; the interview did not detail a specific historical reference for it. |
| Chief | Hoffmann connected it to a cushion-shaped chronograph from the 1970s. | Part of the planned presentation; the interview also described a tourbillon as a future plan for 2025. |
Hoffmann also said the Bivouac was under development for a later release. He associated the heritage watch with an aneroid barometer and altimeter. The interview does not establish a completed release or confirm a schedule.
Revival and renaissance: Hoffmann’s design distinction
Hoffmann used two terms to explain how the relaunch would draw on the archive. He characterized “revival” designs as about 80% aligned with the originals in design or size, and “renaissance” designs as preserving about 40% of the original design. These percentages describe his design philosophy; they are not independently measured scores or technical specifications.
The distinction suggests different degrees of historical fidelity, rather than a guarantee that a watch reproduces an original in every detail. It also explains how the brand could reference its past while making room for new interpretations.
The strategy: heritage, retailers and value
Hoffmann said Favre-Leuba needed to remain true to its historical roots. He described a traditional route to market through retailers and distributors rather than relying on direct sales. For positioning, he emphasized the product itself: “At the end of the day, the product is key,” he told Markl, adding that the value proposition would depend on quality and attention to detail.
That was the strategy he articulated in 2024, not an independent assessment of product quality or a statement that the distribution approach has remained unchanged. His comments put the watches and the way they would reach customers at the center of the relaunch.

Favre-Leuba’s newsroom reported several additions and announcements during 2026. These are the brand’s own statements:

- In September, it announced a Harpoon Revival update with two references.
- In September, it announced three limited Deep Raider Revival editions made in collaboration with French strapmaker Jean Rousseau.
- In September, it reported that the Chief Skeleton had been nominated in the GPHG Challenge category.
The announcements establish what Favre-Leuba reported, rather than independent confirmation of an award outcome or product assessment. The Jean Rousseau collaboration concerns specific limited editions; it does not establish compatibility between a generic replacement strap and any other Favre-Leuba reference.
Hoffmann’s growth ambitions were targets, not reported results
Hoffmann said the brand wanted to become global rather than remain niche or boutique. He set a goal of producing 80,000 to 100,000 watches annually in about 10 to 12 years, and said a first boutique might open within two to three years. Both figures were ambitions described in 2024. The available company and catalogue information cited here does not verify whether production reached that target, whether the boutique timetable held, or the business’s current annual output.
