They are not four versions of the same watch; each brings a different movement and purpose to the lineup.
What are the Seiko 140th-anniversary watches?
Seiko announced the four models on February 25, 2021: Prospex SPB213, Presage SPB223, Astron SSH093 and Seiko 5 Sports SRPG47. The company presented the collection as a celebration of its founding in 1881, guided by founder Kintaro Hattori’s credo, “Always one step ahead of the rest.” The blue and silvery-white color scheme ties the watches together, while their functions range from mechanical timekeeping to GPS-based time adjustment.

How do the four models differ?
Prospex SPB213: the diver
The SPB213 reinterprets Seiko’s first diver from 1965. Its automatic 6R35 movement has a stated 70-hour power reserve, and the watch is rated for 200-meter diver’s water resistance. Seiko describes its wide hands and Lumibrite as features intended to support legibility. At 40.5 mm across, it is the smallest by diameter of these four models.

Presage SPB223: the mechanical GMT
The SPB223 is the collection’s automatic travel watch. Its 6R64 movement provides GMT functionality and a 45-hour power reserve. The Sharp Edged Series case and bracelet use angular, flat surfaces, while the dial carries an Asanoha hemp-leaf pattern. It measures 42.4 mm in diameter and is rated to 10 bar.
Astron SSH093: the GPS Solar model
The SSH093 is the technical outlier: its 5X53 is a GPS Solar movement rather than an automatic caliber. Seiko lists GPS time and time-zone adjustment, dual time, world time covering 39 time zones, and a time-transfer function. Its broad-lug silhouette recalls the 1969 Quartz Astron, according to Seiko. The case is 42.7 mm across and rated to 10 bar.

GPS time-zone behavior has a qualification: when the region, time zone or daylight-saving rules change, manual selection may be necessary. The release does not promise that every local setting will always update automatically.
Seiko 5 Sports SRPG47: the accessible automatic in the set
The SRPG47 pairs the automatic 4R36 with a 41-hour power reserve. Its white dial, blue bezel and blue hands were described by Seiko as a first for Seiko 5 Sports. It measures 42.5 mm in diameter and has 10-bar water resistance.

Which one should you choose?
- For a diver: the SPB213 is the only model in this group specified with 200-meter diver’s water resistance.
- For a mechanical GMT: the SPB223 is the dedicated choice, with the 6R64 automatic GMT caliber.
- For GPS-based travel functions: the SSH093 is the only GPS Solar model, adding time-zone and world-time functions.
- For a simpler automatic sports watch: the SRPG47 has a 4R36 movement and the largest announced edition quantity.
The announced production quantities range from 1,400 Astron SSH093 watches to 11,000 Seiko 5 Sports SRPG47 watches. Those figures describe the editions Seiko announced, not present-day availability or remaining stock.

Seiko’s English announcement said the watches were intended to reach boutiques and selected retailers worldwide in May 2021. Timing was not uniform across markets: an official Spanish-language version said the SPB223 would arrive in July 2021. The company’s approximate European recommended retail prices at announcement were €1,250 for the SPB213, €1,450 for the SPB223, €2,300 for the SSH093 and €300 for the SRPG47. These are historical 2021 European prices, not current pricing.
