It combines a compact stainless-steel case with a Miyota 90S5 automatic movement; the official release page lists an original price of US$1,170 excluding VAT. That was the launch price, not a current resale valuation.
What makes the Calligra distinctive?
Its defining feature is the custom Breguet-style numeral set. Asaoka says Breguet numerals suit a dial because their forms can be arranged around a circle. Drawing on his lettering training, he wrote small numerals with a pen, chose forms he considered balanced, enlarged them, and used them as templates for the dial indices.
Asaoka described the work this way on Kurono’s official project page: “During my art school years, I was trained in lettering. Thus for the first time in a long while, I personally designed a typeface with hand-drawn lettering for the Breguet indices from 1 to 12.” He also emphasized the importance of the hand-drawn originals, saying that the original Breguet markers were hand-drawn and based on the strokes of a human hand. These dimensions describe a compact watch; wrist fit still depends on wrist shape and personal preference. The 18 mm lug width is a nominal strap measurement, not a guarantee that every replacement strap will fit the watch’s end shape. Confirm fit for the specific strap before buying.

Dial variants and release quantity
The release listed three dial variants: Stark Black, Silver White, and Dark MOP. Visit Minato City’s 2024 event listing states that each variant was limited to 188 pieces. That is the stated production quantity per dial, not a broader measure of the watch market. Visit Minato City event listing
The available evidence identifies variants by dial appearance; it does not establish differences in movement, case specifications, or price among them. Choosing between them therefore comes down principally to the look and legibility you prefer.

Original price and current availability
Kurono’s official page lists the original price as US$1,170 excluding VAT, gives the public ordering start as 23 February 2024 at 11 p.m. Japan Standard Time, and marks the project “SOLD OUT.” The page establishes the official release’s sold-out status; it does not establish that a re-release is planned. Collector sale posts have appeared, indicating that resale offers have existed. Search results do not confirm that a particular listing is still live, that a watch is authentic, or that its price is fair. Treat the launch price as historical context only.

- Identity: Check that the reference and dial variant match the Calligra you intend to buy.
- Condition: Request close views of the dial, case, hands, crystal, and strap, and ask about servicing or damage.
- Completeness: Confirm whether box and papers are included; do not assume they are.
- Seller and protections: Review seller history, return terms, payment method, and any buyer-protection process.
- Price: Compare current offers for the same variant and condition. The US$1,170 launch price excluding VAT is not proof of today’s market value.
