The September 2021 refresh of the Mido Ocean Star 600 Chronometer kept the previous model’s case dimensions and made a restrained set of design and construction changes. Xavier Markl’s report described the watch as substantial but comfortable on the wrist, with a revised dial and hands, a more rigid caseback and stronger bracelet attachment. At launch, prices were EUR 1,490, CHF 1,590 and USD 1,700; Mido’s regional pages listed the black-dial model at CHF 1,690 in Switzerland and $2,020 in the United States when accessed on October 8, 2026, with both pages showing it out of stock.
What changed in the 2021 Ocean Star 600 Chronometer?
Mido unveiled the updated Ocean Star 600 Chronometer at the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series event in Polignano a Mare in September 2021. In his report published September 26, 2021, watch journalist Xavier Markl characterized the update as a subtle evolution rather than a new case design: the dimensions remained the same as the prior version, while the dial layout and hands were revised. The blue-dial edition uses a gradient finish. Its markers combine round and rectangular shapes, with a triangle at 12 o’clock. The seconds hand has a lollipop tip, while the hour and minute hands are partially skeletonized. Markl also noted a more rigid caseback and stronger bracelet attachment as technical changes. How the watch wears, according to the 2021 report
Markl described the 43.5 mm watch as substantial but comfortable on the wrist. That is his published impression, not an independent wear test for this article. Its dimensions and steel construction give it a deliberately substantial diver profile, so wrist fit is worth assessing in person if you are sensitive to case diameter or height.
Specifications and references
The 2021 report covered two versions: blue dial and bezel reference M026.608.11.041.01, and black dial and bezel reference M026.608.11.051.00. The black reference remains the model shown on Mido’s current Swiss and US product pages.

The thickness figures differ: Markl’s 2021 report gives 14.05 mm, while Mido’s current black-reference page gives 14.6 mm as average thickness. They are source-specific published figures and should not be treated as a single reconciled measurement. The manufacturer describes water resistance as “up to a pressure of 60 bar (600 m / 2000 ft) with screw-down crown.” Markl’s 2021 report lists a screw-down crown and caseback. Neither figure changes what the rating means: it is a specified water-resistance rating, not a recommendation to use the watch at that depth. Mido’s Swiss product page.
Movement, bracelet and diver features
The 2021 review identifies the automatic movement as Mido Calibre 80 COSC Si, based on ETA C07.821. Its silicon hairspring, COSC certification and stated 80-hour reserve are the defining technical points in the report. The current Mido page confirms COSC certification and an up-to-80-hour reserve for the black reference, but its retrieved specifications do not identify the caliber or state a helium valve. The 2021 report also notes the revised bracelet attachment and a more rigid caseback; the available specifications do not provide a separate clasp description or warranty term.
