The Anton Suhanov Racer Jumping Hour GMT pairs retrograde local-time displays with a jumping digital 24-hour indication for a second time zone. Presented in 2021 as the independent watchmaker’s first wristwatch model, it was listed by the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) as a 20-piece limited series, reference SU20.015-50.
How do the jumping hour and GMT display work?
The watch presents local time with retrograde hour and minute indications, while a digital window at 12 o’clock displays a second time zone in 24-hour format. “Jumping hour” describes the stepwise movement of the hour indication rather than a conventional hour hand sweeping around a dial.
The local minute indication travels along an arc. At the end of that arc, it returns to the beginning as the next hour starts. The maker describes an indication module that coordinates this reset with the advance of the retrograde hour display and the second-time-zone window. The center seconds indication occupies a dynamic 20-second arc.
GPHG lists the functions as seconds, date, retrograde hours and minutes, jumping hours, and dual time. The available descriptions explain what the displays show, but do not establish how the second time zone is set or whether it can be adjusted independently.

What inspired the Racer’s design?
Suhanov says the idea came to him while driving to his workshop: the layout recalls a vintage-car instrument panel, with gauges to either side and other indicators between them. The arrangement gives the watch a strong dashboard-like character while assigning distinct roles to its displays.
GPHG describes the steel case as based on a regular Reuleaux polygon—a square-like form with rounded sides. The source also draws a design and technical analogy between the comparatively understated use of jumping-hour indication and Breguet’s Marie Antoinette pocket watch; that comparison does not establish that the two watches use identical mechanisms.

What is notable about its finishing?
The maker’s technical description details hand-polished bevels, engraving, polished recesses, spherical polishing of wheel shafts and pins, perlage, straight and circular graining, sandblasting, and rhodium plating on the indication module. The dial is described as using anodizing, ruthenium coating, and guilloché.

Suhanov’s official biography identifies the Racer as his first wristwatch collection or model, presented in 2021. The biography’s chronology notes that Chronotope followed in 2024; it does not establish whether Racer production continues today.
