Avoirdupois’s debut watch, the Force Majeure, is a steel automatic with a monoblock case and integrated bracelet that the New York brand says is manufactured in Manhattan. The current collection comprises two limited variants: the black-dial Force Majeure 150 and the gold-dial 150R. Avoirdupois lists them at $12,950 and $24,950, respectively, and says delivery will be no earlier than September 2026.
What is the Avoirdupois Force Majeure?
The Force Majeure is the first watch release from Avoirdupois, a New York City brand identified by Monochrome Watches as founded in 2017 by designer and engineer James Stumpf. Avoirdupois presents its watches as manufactured in Manhattan. The “100% American-Made” wording belongs to the launch framing; the available product information does not independently verify every component’s origin, so it is best understood as the brand’s manufacturing claim rather than a separately certified sourcing statement.
The design centers on a steel monoblock case and an integrated bracelet. The brand describes a case-integrated deployant mechanism and a Snap-Link system for tool-free bracelet resizing. Its official product description says, “This watch reworks those fundamental engineering concepts.”
Force Majeure 150 vs. 150R
The two references share the same listed case dimensions, water resistance and basic movement specifications. The differences are primarily the dial and movement finishing, production limit, price and reservation deposit.

Movement and specifications
Both official model pages list an automatic AVDP.130.LB movement with 47 components, excluding 39 jewels, a 2.4 Hz beat rate and a 50-hour power reserve. The 150 uses a steel mainplate and 22k gold rotor; the 150R upgrades the mainplate to 18k gold and is described as internally hand-finished.

A November 17, 2025 launch article by Rebecca Doulton at Monochrome Watches reported a 60-hour reserve. That differs from the current 50-hour figure on the manufacturer’s model pages, which is the more current specification to use.

Reservation terms and delivery
As listed on the official product pages, the black-dial 150 requires a $10,000 deposit by bank wire or check, leaving $2,950 plus applicable taxes and shipping due before shipment or pickup. The 150R requires a $20,000 deposit, leaving $4,950 plus applicable taxes and shipping. Credit-card orders are due in full for either reference.
Avoirdupois states that delivery will be no earlier than September 2026. The brand says it ships only within the United States; customers elsewhere must arrange shipping or pickup themselves. The product pages do not establish whether reservations have shipped or how many watches remain available, so prospective buyers should confirm fulfillment timing and availability with the brand before placing an order.
