The Awake 01 Titane Dare & Dream is a limited-edition automatic watch built around an illustrated dial by French artist Nicolas Barrome Forgues. Its paper-like white surface, playful alien figures and altered hour markers give it a distinctive identity; the trade-off is that clear, at-a-glance time reading is not its strongest selling point. Fratello reported a production run of 50 pieces in May 2024.
What makes the Dare & Dream different?
The watch was created in collaboration with Nicolas Barrome Forgues. Its white dial has a paper-like texture and is decorated with pad-printed, three-dimensional motifs and sketchbook-style alien characters called Bifrons. Some of the figures interact with the Awake logo and hour indices, making the dial feel more like a small illustrated scene than a conventional watch face.
The artwork also changes the way the hour markers are laid out: the markers at 2, 5 and 8 o’clock are absent, while characters and other details occupy the dial. That visual choice is central to the watch’s personality, but it makes the dial less straightforward to scan than a standard arrangement of clear, evenly placed indices.
How practical is the illustrated dial?
The characters, indices and hands are treated with BGW9 lume, which glows blue in low light. Here, lume is part of the artwork as much as a functional aid. Fratello’s May 2024 coverage cautions that the luminous illustration does not necessarily make the time easier to read. Buyers drawn to the design should regard legibility as a compromise rather than the principal reason to choose it.

The 40 mm diameter and 47 mm lug-to-lug length provide useful starting points for judging fit, though wrist shape and personal preference matter too. The reported 100 m water resistance gives the watch more versatility than a dress-only specification would suggest, but it does not change the dial’s art-first character.

Which straps came with it?
Fratello reported two included options: a white rubber strap and a black fabric Zulu strap. Both are associated with the 20 mm lug spacing. If considering another strap, check the individual strap and buckle configuration rather than relying on width alone for compatibility.
What was the launch price and edition size?
Fratello reported that Awake limited the run to 50 pieces. Its May 16, 2024 article listed a launch price of €890 excluding taxes and a two-year warranty. Those are historical launch details, not confirmation of a current offer, present availability or current warranty terms.

Who is the Awake 01 Titane Dare & Dream for?
This is a natural fit for someone who values Barrome Forgues’s illustration, unusual dial design and the appeal of a small production run. The titanium case, sapphire components and automatic Miyota movement supply conventional watchmaking substance beneath that artistic premise. Someone who prioritizes fast, unambiguous reading should weigh the missing markers and busy artwork carefully; the dial’s individuality is also its main practical compromise.
