Bulgari’s Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch pairs an ancient Caracalla coin that conceals its dial with a rose-gold Milanese mesh bracelet and the brand’s hand-wound Piccolissimo BVP100 movement. It brings the Monete design, which Bulgari traces to the mid-1960s, into a new bracelet form.
A Monete watch with a concealed dial
Bulgari says the Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch revisits its Monete design, introduced in the mid-1960s. Its rose-gold case is topped by an authentic ancient coin depicting Emperor Caracalla, dated by Bulgari to 198–297 AD. Specialist coverage describes the coin as a hinged cover: lift it to reveal a white mother-of-pearl dial with diamond hour markers.
The coin’s age and identity give the watch its defining jewelry element, while its cover makes the time display discreet when closed. Bulgari does not provide a specific coin provenance or numismatic catalog reference in its product announcement.
Rose-gold Milanese mesh bracelet
The bracelet is the model’s other distinguishing feature. Bulgari describes Milanese mesh as interlaced gold threads and associates the technique with Renaissance Milan; here it is rendered in rose gold. Monochrome Watches reports that this is Bulgari’s first Milanese mesh bracelet and describes a gold pin buckle. Piccolissimo BVP100 movement
The watch uses Bulgari’s manual-winding Piccolissimo BVP100 mechanical movement. Monochrome Watches reports the caliber measures 13.5 mm across and 2.5 mm thick, weighs 1.9 g, and contains 102 components and 21 jewels. Its reported frequency is 21,600 vibrations per hour, with a 30-hour power reserve; this version is wound through the crown. Cortina Watch independently lists the Piccolissimo BVP 100 as manual-winding, with hours and minutes and a 30-hour reserve.
References and bracelet sizing
Monochrome Watches reports two references differentiated by bracelet size range. Its coverage does not establish differences in movement or function between them.
