They do not provide an extra precise local-hour reading. Launch reports from March 2025 describe a 38 mm Grade 5 titanium watch powered by a hand-wound movement; the reported launch price was CHF 32,500 excluding VAT.
What is the Byrne Star Worldtimer?
Byrne introduced the Star Worldtimer in March 2025 as an independent-watch launch built around two displays. The central 12-hour worldtime disc identifies time zones through a sequence of cities, while four cubes at the dial’s cardinal points provide a visual indication of day phases across another set of cities. The concept and launch specifications below are described in contemporary launch coverage and Byrne press-release material, rather than a hands-on assessment.
The watch’s historical inspiration is attributed to Byrne’s March 2025 press release hosted by Europa Star: it says John Byrne restored a Vacheron Constantin pocket watch in 2005, believed to have belonged to a pope, and that the watch was later acquired by the Vacheron Constantin museum. The consulted launch sources do not independently substantiate that provenance.
How does Byrne Time Flow work?
Time Flow uses four rotating cubes positioned at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. Each cube is associated with four cities and a colored background; the colors represent broad phases of the day. The cubes are intended to show whether it is early morning, noon, evening or night in those locations—not the exact local hour. The cardinal position of a cube should not be read as the time in its cities.

- Wandering Hour Display: A Minimalist approach beyond convention, with hours drifting in continuous motion alongside the minutes. At the dial’s centre, a singular wandering assembly traces minutes; along its path, an hour disc rotates calmly, read against a fixed marker.
- Self-Developed Caliber CD-08: Based on the Japanese Miyota 9000-series automatic base, with 24 jewels supporting stable, consistent performance.Built upon the renowned Mivota 9000 series-42-hour reserve 28,800 vph, 24 jewels-this customized automatic is designatec CD-08.
- Super Black Dial: Absorbing 99.3% of light, the dial lets motion emerge from darkness without distraction. Raised minute indices, finely CNC-engraved, encircle the shadow, catching light and framing the motion.
- Sculpted 316L Steel Case: A layered case design combining polished and sandblasted surfaces for refined contrast. Slim and fluid at 11.8 mm, designed to rest close and composed on the wrist. Swiss Super-LumiNova enhances a distinct nighttime presence.

Byrne’s press release, carried by Europa Star in March 2025, describes the system this way: “At its cardinal points, a groundbreaking gyro-complication tracks the four key moments of a day on Earth every 6 hours, across 16 major cities”.
Time Flow city groups
| Dial position | Cities associated with the cube |
|---|---|
| 12 o’clock | Hanoi, Paris, Rome, New York |
| 3 o’clock | Male, Tokyo, Baku, Rio |
| 6 o’clock | Taipei, Hong Kong, Oslo, Bern |
| 9 o’clock | Doha, Sydney, Noumea, Dubai |
How do you read the 12-hour worldtime disc?
The central disc lists 12 cities, with a two-hour difference between each city in the sequence according to the Byrne press release. Brisbane and Midway are highlighted in gold to indicate the reading sequence. This city ring is distinct from Time Flow: it provides the watch’s worldtime indication, whereas the cubes communicate day phases for their own city groups.

What does the current Byrne STAR page confirm?
Byrne’s current official STAR page confirms the STAR name and the Worldtimer/Time Flow concept, but it lists a materially different specification set: a 41 mm 18K rose-gold case, automatic calibre 5555, 60-hour power reserve and 261 total parts. The available sources do not establish whether that listing describes a separate configuration or reflects outdated or misapplied details. It should not be treated as confirmation of the 38 mm titanium Worldtimer’s launch specifications. Anyone considering a purchase should confirm the exact reference and current specification directly with Byrne.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the launch coverage does—and does not—establish
MONOCHROME stated that it had not experienced the watch first-hand when its launch report was published. The available material therefore does not establish real-world legibility, comfort, timekeeping precision or long-term reliability. It supports a description of the displayed concept and launch-reported technical details, not an assessment of how the watch wears or performs in use.
