The Seiko 5 Sports SRPJ79 is a 3,400-piece limited edition created for Ultraseven’s 55th anniversary. Its Ultra Guard-inspired colors, “Terrestrial Defense Force” strap, numbered case back and Ultraseven silhouette give the familiar Seiko 5 Sports format a distinct science-fiction collaboration theme. Seiko announced the model for a January 2023 launch; its Japanese suggested retail price at launch was ¥51,700 including tax.
What is the Seiko SRPJ79 Ultraseven Limited Edition?
Seiko identifies the SRPJ79 as a Seiko 5 Sports SKX-series watch and an Ultraseven 55th Anniversary Limited Edition. The collaboration is a tribute to the Ultra Guard, the fictional organization in the Ultraseven series. Seiko says the colors and design details are intended to evoke an instrument used by the Ultra Guard.
The watch retains the recognizable Seiko 5 Sports design language while adding details tied to the series. Seiko describes the dial’s metallic texture and bezel design as following the original Seiko 5 Sports design.
How the Ultraseven theme appears on the watch
- Nylon strap: The strap uses Ultra Guard uniform colors and is marked “Terrestrial Defense Force,” as described on Seiko’s Ultraseven collaboration page.
- Case back: It is marked “Limited Edition” and carries an individual serial number.
- Glass: An Ultraseven silhouette is applied to the glass.
- Presentation box: Seiko presented the watch in a special stainless-steel material box bearing the Ultra Guard logo.

Edition size, launch date and original price
Seiko Watch Corporation announced an edition of 3,400 pieces, with a launch date of January 13, 2023. Its Japanese launch announcement gave a suggested retail price of ¥51,700 including tax. What to know before looking for one
The launch details establish the original edition size, date and Japanese suggested price, but they do not establish whether the watch is currently available or what it should cost on the secondary market. Check the condition, included box and strap, serial-number markings, seller’s return terms and authenticity documentation when evaluating a listing. Do not treat the launch MSRP as a current market valuation.
