The C by Romain Gauthier Carbonium Edition pairs a lightweight Carbonium case with a hand-wound Grade 5 titanium movement and a partially openworked sapphire dial. Announced on November 10, 2025, it is a customizable, manufacture-only watch sold exclusively through Manufacture Romain Gauthier—not an ordinary retail-channel release. What Carbonium means on this watch
Romain Gauthier describes Carbonium as a high-performance carbon-fibre composite invented and produced by the French company Lavoisier Composites. According to the manufacturer, it is made by compression-moulding carbon fibres and epoxy resin from aerospace-industry prepreg tapes, upcycling those materials in the process.
The announcement identifies Carbonium in the case, crown, and buckle. The product page also specifies Carbonium inserts in the movement bridges. These material and production details are the brand’s descriptions.

What the openworked dial reveals
The partially openworked sapphire dial is patterned with Carbonium and exposes part of the movement rather than offering a full view. The manufacturer says it reveals the seconds mechanism and part of the escapement line, including the escapement wheel, balance, and pallet; the seconds wheel is intended as the visual focal point.
The hands are Grade 5 titanium with Super-LumiNova. The indices and numerals are made entirely of Super-LumiNova. The manufacturer’s press release also provides dial and crown-position detail.

Water resistance: two conflicting official ratings
The product listing gives the watch a rating of 10 m / 1 atm / 30 ft. The official user-manual page, which covers Carbonium Edition references MON00561, MON00564, and MON00565, instead states a static rating of 50 m / 160 ft. Both are manufacturer claims, and the reviewed official pages do not reconcile the difference.
Because the discrepancy matters in practice, confirm the rating for your exact reference directly with Manufacture Romain Gauthier before exposing the watch to water. Neither published figure is an independent test result.

Winding and service guidance
The manufacturer’s manual says to wind the watch manually using the crown at 2 o’clock. Stop when you feel the built-in winding block; do not keep winding past it. The manual also cautions against pulling the crown out while the watch is wet or in water.
For maintenance, the manual recommends returning the watch to Manufacture Romain Gauthier for service at least once every three years.
