De Bethune’s official product page provides the reference and technical specifications. The manufacture’s design article, dated 25 May 2023, explains its aesthetic approach. The maker’s press page, also dated 25 May 2023, lists the release and related technical materials.
How big is the DB28XS Starry Seas?
The case measures 38.7 mm in diameter and 7.4 mm thick. De Bethune specifies polished grade 5 titanium for the case. The listed dimensions describe the case; they do not by themselves establish how the watch will wear on a particular wrist.

What makes the dial distinctive?
The dial is blue titanium with a random guilloché pattern. De Bethune describes the resulting composition as a starry-sky motif, with white-gold stars set against the blue surface. The pattern is a design feature, not an indication of a second time display or other complication.
In its 25 May 2023 article, De Bethune calls the random guilloché a “world first.” That is the manufacture’s claim; the article does not independently establish a broader history of guilloché watchmaking. The same article frames the compact case and dial through Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese aesthetic concept, as part of the maker’s design interpretation.

What movement does it use?
The watch uses the manually wound DB2005 calibre. De Bethune lists a self-regulating twin barrel and a six-day power reserve. The calibre has a stated diameter of 30 mm, 160 parts and 27 jewels; its listed frequency is 28,800 vibrations per hour. These are the manufacturer’s published specifications, not independent measurements of reserve, rate or performance.
- Balance: titanium balance wheel with white-gold inserts.
- Balance spring: flat terminal curve.
- Escapement: silicon escape wheel.
- Shock protection: triple pare-chute system.
De Bethune also lists sapphire crystals on the front and open back, each with double anti-reflective coating. Its product page describes the floating lugs as covered by a De Bethune patent dated 2006. In its design article, the manufacture presents miniaturizing the floating-lug system for the smaller case as part of the engineering story.
What the published specifications do—and do not—tell you
The product page documents the reference, materials, dimensions, display and movement details. It does not establish a current retail price, inventory status, independent accuracy results or the watch’s current availability through any particular retailer. The manufacturer’s design article explains its own aesthetic intent; it is not independent confirmation of historical or performance claims.
For comparison with other DB28XS variants, the useful documented axes are case material and dimensions, dial design, display or complications, calibre and power reserve. De Bethune’s DB28XS collection page lists multiple variants, but a listed model should not be taken as proof of current stock or price.
