The 2025 Formex Essence Ceramica Automatic COSC brings the line back with a solid dial, a new Soprod Newton P092 movement and a full zirconium-oxide ceramic case and bracelet. It is distinct from the earlier 2025 Essence Ceramica Skeleton COSC, which used a skeletonized Sellita SW200-1. The automatic model pairs a 41 mm case with four dial choices and a bracelet clasp offering 5 mm of on-the-fly adjustment.
What changed from the Skeleton COSC?
The clearest change is the dial: the Automatic COSC replaces the skeletonized look with four solid-dial treatments. It also uses a different movement. The earlier 2025 Skeleton COSC was fitted with a skeletonized Sellita SW200-1; this automatic solid-dial version uses the Soprod Newton P092, co-designed to Formex specifications. The two models share the Essence Ceramica name, but they should not be treated as the same watch with only a dial variation.
Case, bracelet and proportions
The case and integrated bracelet are made from zirconium-oxide ceramic. Formex combines brushed surfaces with diamond-polished bevels, and describes an integrated patented Case Suspension System that suspends the inner movement container. The case has a screw-down crown, sapphire crystal and display back, a date at six o’clock, and a stated water resistance of 100 metres.
Launch specifications published by Monochrome give dimensions of 41 mm across, 11.2 mm thick and 46.2 mm lug-to-lug. The same launch specifications list the case at 56 g and the watch at 137 g with bracelet. Those figures offer a more useful sense of scale than diameter alone, although wrist fit still depends on wrist shape and preference. Fratello reported that the watch sat well on one reviewer’s 18 cm wrist; that individual impression is not a fit guarantee.

Formex says the ceramic is about seven times harder and approximately 30% lighter than steel, and describes it as hypoallergenic, amagnetic, thermally adaptive and UV-proof. These are manufacturer claims; its product page does not specify the test method or define the steel comparison.
Movement and chronometer certification
The Automatic COSC is powered by the Soprod Newton P092. Monochrome lists 23 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a 44-hour power reserve. Formex says the movement undergoes Chronofiable endurance trials and then COSC certification to ISO 3159. Each watch includes a COSC certificate and an engraved chronometer number, according to the manufacturer.

Monochrome’s launch specifications list four dial treatments, each with its own reference:

How the bracelet clasp adjusts
The clasp provides 5 mm of on-the-fly adjustment, intended to let the wearer fine-tune bracelet fit without tools. There is a discrepancy in the published step size: Formex’s introductory product copy says 1.5 mm steps, while its detailed specification says four gradual increments of 1.25 mm across the 5 mm range. Monochrome also reports four 1.25 mm increments in both directions. The total adjustment range is consistent; the exact step-size wording is not.

When submerged, ensure the crown is fully screwed down. Avoid operating the crown or pushers underwater to prevent moisture from entering the movement.
Formex also documents quick-release rubber, nylon and Italian leather strap options, plus a carbon-fiber deployant clasp for those straps. Check compatibility with the exact watch reference before choosing an alternative strap or clasp.
