Launch coverage reported a ten-watch edition at CHF 198,000 excluding taxes; that is a historical launch price, not a confirmed current price or availability.
What is the Voutilainen CSW?
CSW stands for Cushion Shape Worldtime. Introduced in June 2023, it brought a more contemporary cushion-shaped steel case to Voutilainen’s work while retaining the maker’s hand-guilloché dial and hand-finished movement approach. Monochrome’s launch report describes a 39 × 39 mm case, 12 mm thick, with sapphire crystals front and back.
The launch account describes an anthracite dial guilloché by hand on a solid-silver base, with handmade white-gold and blued-steel hands. The case’s cushion outline distinguishes the watch from the more conventional round shapes often associated with the maker, while the dial’s detailed surface and movement finishing remain central to its character.
How does the world-time display work?
The display combines central hours and minutes with a peripheral city ring and a rotating 24-hour disc divided into day and night sectors. Read the city against the 24-hour scale to follow the corresponding time around the world. Monochrome reports that the crown provides quick correction of the world-time indication, without a separate pusher.

The city names also include personal references: Môtiers, where the workshop is based, and Kemi, the Finnish town where Kari Voutilainen grew up. In the launch description, Môtiers represents Central European time.
What movement and specifications were reported?
The CSW launch report identifies the movement as the hand-wound 216TMZ. The figures below are from Monochrome’s June 2023 coverage of the CSW; the current official 216TMZ page describes a related movement and lists a different reserve figure.

These launch specifications are attributed to Monochrome’s 23 June 2023 CSW report. The maker’s current official 216TMZ page lists 275 components, 44 jewels, a 13.50 mm balance, a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour and a 65-hour power reserve. It also presents a 39 mm steel case, blue hand-guilloché dial with gold applied numerals and indexes, and dark grey hand-sewn crocodile strap. The two descriptions have different dates and scopes; the current page does not establish that every detail of the original CSW configuration is identical to its present 216TMZ presentation.
What did the CSW cost at launch?
Monochrome reported a limited edition of ten watches and a launch price of CHF 198,000 excluding taxes. Waqt’s report dated 24 June 2023 also gives ten pieces and the same price. How does the watch reflect Voutilainen’s workshop?
Voutilainen’s official manufacture page says the workshop was established in 2002 and describes the in-house design and development of movements, cases, dials and hands. It also outlines a process in which movements are assembled, disassembled for decoration, then assembled again. That context helps explain why the CSW’s appeal is not limited to its unusual case shape: the dial work and movement finishing are part of the same craft-led approach.
